Voigtlander Nokton 58mm f/1.4 SL-II Reviews

SLRLensreview reviews the Voigtlander Nokton 58mm f/1.4 SL-II and writes;
“The lens certainly has a lot to offer – very good overall resolution, relatively low levels of artifacts such as chromatic aberration, as well as excellent build quality to name a few. The lens also carries a slight discount (~US$70 once you factor in the price of Nokton’s lens hood which is sold separately) when compared to Carl Zeiss Planar T 50mm f/1.4 which is also being manufactured by Cosina.”
rating: N/A

Photozone reviews the Voigtlander Nokton 58mm f/1.4 SL-II and writes;
“Technically the lens is somewhat soft at f/1.4 both in terms of border resolution as well as overall contrast. At f/2 and more so at f/2.8 the quality has improved significantly and the quality of the bokeh is also best around these settings. The sheer resolution potential in unleashed at medium aperture settings where the lens is about as good as it gets today. The level of distortions is negligible in field conditions and lateral CAs as well as vignetting are not much of an issue either.”

Voigtlander Nokton 58mm f/1.4 SL-II User Reviews

Superb prime lens and great bargain, | Rating: ★★★★★
“The Nokton is a manual focus lens, which doesn’t bother me at all, as I rarely use AF, but YMMV here. The focus ring is smooth and allows very accurate control – it’s a real pleasure to use. Aperture can be controlled in camera, so the aperture ring is not something you’ll need to use (just set it to A). As far as sharpness goes, this is a very sharp lens – you’ll be hard-pressed to find a sharper lens regardless of price and it’s the kind of sharpness that can convince one to prefer prime lenses over zooms. I am very pleased with the bokeh as well.” – by Laurentiu Cristofor
