Vivitar 800mm f/8.0 User Reviews

Powerful lens, crisp images, affordable
“As a professional, I depend on good glass that delivers performance and crisp images quickly and dependably. This lens fills this need and then keeps on going. It focuses in a snap without the risk of the aberrations found in even high end refracting lenses. It is a hefty lens however and the newcomer to these type lenses will need to get in some minimal practice time or expect to use a support system. This lens is perfect for sporting events and especially nature photography.” – by Laird Photography

Good construction,Limited uses
“Very good construction and materials. Manual focus, “you better have good eyesight”! Limited usage,”good for wildlife in good lighting”. Heavy,”tripod is a must”.” – by Fred

Cheap and fun
“I own a Canon 7D so that makes this lens equivalent to 1260mm. It open a whole world of possible photos that were not accessible before. The lens seems reasonably robust (for the modest price) and produces sharp, clear photos. The donut-shaped bokeh is really lovely.” – by Grungly
Rating: ★★★★☆

Nice bokeh and reasonable sharpness
“Limited use so far, so rating is based on only a few images. The lens has nice bokeh and reasonable sharpness and contrast in initial evaluation. Tripod or monopod will be required unless high ISO (and thus high shutter speed) or flash are used. High ISO will be OK for auto racing and baseball–will have to wait for the seasons to start to evaluate. With the T-mount, the lens scale is not on top with the lens mounted, but that may be adjustable. Heavy, which will help in hand-holding shots (I hope).” – by PhotoMoe

good value for money and light weight
“I just tested this new baby out, it’s super light for a tele lens. I’ve already get info from internet about pro-cons of mirror lens and they are true, so it doesn’t surprise me about the slightly less contras, doughnut bokeh” – by Gustavo Espinosa
