Sony UK Advisory Notice
Sony UK has issued a service advisory for its 21 digital cameras including the DSC F717 and DSC P10. The problem is with the LCD panel and/or electronic viewfinder showing either a distorted image or no image when used in camera mode.

Thank you for your support and patronage of Sony Digital Still Cameras.
It has recently come to our attention that a limited number of Sony Digital Still Cameras that incorporate an image sensor device, CCD Chip, manufactured from October 2002 through March 2004 may exhibit the following condition:
When the Digital Still Camera is used in camera mode, the LCD panel and/or electronic viewfinder will show either a distorted image or no image.
We have determined that this condition only occurs to a limited number of units.
In its effort to ensure customer satisfaction, Sony has elected to offer a free repair to the owners of applicable Digital Still Cameras if the image sensor device, CCD chip, causes one of the above-mentioned conditions. Accordingly, customers who have a Sony Digital Still Camera as outlined below and if said Sony Digital Still Camera exhibits the above-mentioned condition caused by the image sensor device, CCD chip, may contact the special call center set forth below for free repair:
