Tokina has launched a new lens to replace their hightly regarded AT-X 11-16 f/2.8 for APS-C sensors, the new lens is the AT-X Pro 11-16mm f/2.8 (IF) Aspherical DX II. The lens offers a newly developed Silent Drive Motor for quiet auto focus and a GMR magnetic AF sensor to achieve high speed focusing. The lens construction consists of 13 images in 11 groups with minimum focusing distance of 0.3m and filter size at 77mm. It sold in Japan with retail price of ¥ 90,000 (tax not included with hood). The lens will be released for Nikon digital (APS-C) in late March 2012 while for the Canon digital (APS-C) will be released in late July 2012.
Come with the newly developed SD-M (Silent Drive-Module) by using high-quiet DC motor, the Tokina AT-X Pro 11-16mm f/2.8 (IF) Aspherical DX II lens enhances quiet performance for focusing on the subject. While the GMR sensor (magnetic sensor Precision) which is mounted directly under the high-resolution focus ensures the lens provide high speed AF on the subject. The lens also offers a new multi-coating to give a more smooth gradation of the shadows. In addition, the lens comes with ultra-low dispersion glass and aspherical lens for correcting each the distortion and chromatic aberration.
