Tokina 16.5-135mm f/3.5-5.6 AF DX Reviews

Lenstip reviews the Tokina 16.5-135mm f/3.5-5.6 AF DX and writes;
“The distortion is a category in which the Tokina’s performance is beyond reproach. Zoom lenses with a similar range on wide angle can show barrel distortion reaching even –5%. The Tokina, with its result of –3.30% fares really well here. With the increase of the focal length the distortion decreases with lightning speed and changes the sign. At 24 mm it becomes pincushion and reaches 0.49%. It’s still not a problem – a bit harder part begins later.”

Popphoto reviews the Tokina 16.5-135mm f/3.5-5.6 AF DX and writes;
“In the Popular Photography Test Lab, the optics performed well. Sharpness, light falloff, and distortion control were, on the whole, slightly above-average for the class. On our lens bench, its SQF numbers at 11×14 nearly matched the comparable Canon and Nikon zooms, but this lens clearly beat both in distortion control and light falloff.”

User Opinions

Tokina 16.5-135mm f/3.5-5.6 AF DX User Reviews

Good build, quick and accurate focus, Sharp photos | Rating: ★★★★☆
“the picture quality in terms of Sharpness, color detail and contrast, I would say it’s no less than many lenses that cost twice as much. Very good quality really. Also, the background blurr (boquet) when taking portraits at 135mm is very nice. I also tested this lens at night with room light compared with my Canon EF 28-135, the results from Tokina were much sharper and better field depth at exactly same settings. Also compared to Sigma 24-135, the Tokina did a better job.” – by Fatih Eman
