Sony SLT-A58 Reviews

Photographyblog reviews the Sony SLT-A58 and writes;
“Despite the jump from 16 to 20 megapixels, image quality remains excellent. Noise doesn’t rear its ugly head until ISO 3200 for JPEGs, although the A58 does apply some pretty aggressive noise reduction to keep the files clean, resulting in some loss of finer detail.”
Rating: ★★★★½

Ephotozine reviews the Sony SLT-A58 and writes;
“Despite an increase in resolution over the Sony Alpha A37, noise is well controlled with decent results at ISO3200 and even ISO6400. Rather than seeing this as a downgraded A57, the A58 is more of an upgraded A37, and offers improved detail in images and excellent value for money. If you shoot with Sony lenses, and want to upgrade your body for better image quality then the Sony Alpha A58 is highly recommended.”
Rating: ★★★★½

Expertreviews reviews the Sony SLT-A58 and writes;
“Details in bright conditions were crisp and natural, without any halo-like artefacts of heavy digital sharpening. Developing raw files in Lightroom gave a slight improvement to the fidelity of fine details, but the 20-megapixel resolution ensured that JPEGs were far from lacking. The kit lens suffered from poor corner sharpness when photographing nearby subjects, but in most tests it performed well.”

Whatdigitalcamera reviews the Sony SLT-A58 and writes;
“the AF is solid, the burst rate to back this up and make it a natural choice for action photographers over its rivals has all but disappeared.”

Trustedreviews reviews the Sony SLT-A58 and writes;
“Overall, the Sony A58 delivers reliable shots. The white balance system delivers consistent results and pleasing skin tones across a wide range of lighting conditions, and should you wish to alter the results in any way there are a host of presets to hand to help you. The exposure and metering system is also fairly reliable, and the slight tendency to under-expose is easily remedied with the camera’s exposure compensation.”
Rating: ★★★½☆

Photoreview reviews the Sony SLT-A58 and writes;
“The new OLED Tru-Finder accurately shows the results of adjusting camera settings in real time. Instantly see the result of adjusting exposure compensation, aperture, ISO, white balance, Picture Effect and other parameters before you shoot… not after.”

Techradar reviews the Sony SLT-A58 and writes;
“One area that we can already confidently say has been improved is the electronic viewfinder, which is now an OLED device. Looking through it you are presented with a very clear picture, which has the added advantage of displaying any changes you make to the settings, when compared with an optical viewfinder. The image displayed is clearer and crisper than the already excellent device on the Sony a57.”
