I have long been a Sony Fan, I actually sold my Sony F717 to purchase the new HX1 - What a Mistake. The F717 (a 10 year old camera) blows the HX1 away when it comes to Picture Quality. The only draw back to the F717 was Huge Shutter Lag. The Sony HX1 is a Specification Sheet dream - unfortunatly that is where all of the "good" stops. In the end it is the Picture Quality that counts - this thing is exceedingly poor in that department.
