Greatly Improves shots
“I use it on my Mavica CD500 and on my wife’s DSC-V1 and we are both very pleased with it. Because it communicates with the camera, it fires a pre-flash to determine ideal exposure and then takes the shot. The pictures look like if they were taken during daytime, not with a centered, white “burn” that makes the picture more bidimensional. It’s strong enough that when used during daylight it fills the shadows (i.e. under the eyes). “ – By J. Alberto Gratacos

HVLF32X Flash Works!
“This flash is everything I have read it to be! It works great w/my Sony DSC-F717. It does go through batteries as I read previously on reviews (that is the ONLY bad review this flash got!), but as suggested I purchased the Duracell rechargeable batteries along w/the 1-hr. charger and it works great!! The 2300 mAh strength work the best-have the fastest recovery and last the longest. This flash is definitely worth what I paid for it and certainly is a great asset to my camera.” – By ThruMyLense

Works great
“The built-in flash is good enough for you. This is a perfect flash if you want to take some more serious pictures. I use it with a Sony DSC F707 and the result is great. The pictures turn out great both indoors and outdoors. The only bad thing about this flash is the battery problem. It eats up the batteries so fast. You need to buy rechargable batteries if you don’t want to spend tons of money on batteries. “ – By Taylan Orhon

Powerful smart flash, no more “Red-Eye”
“I bought it for my Sony DSC-f828 and now use it with my DSC-R1. I love this flash. If you have a Sony DSC-F828 or DSC-R1 then this flash will work with your cameras through the lens metering system. The flash will also assist with low light auto focus by using the built in LED’s beneath the main flash head. The flash mounts on hot shoe on the right side of the camera body providing a nice balance feel to the camera and more importantly; by the flash being offset from the center of the lens it eliminates that dreaded red eye you can get while using the built in flash. “ – By James Hatsis

Buy it – You’ll like it
“If you want better indoor exposures from your compatible Sony camera this is definitely the flash to get. With this flash you will automatically eliminate red-eye, have the ability to exceed 10 feet of distance between you and your subject (which is about the maximum effective distance of most Sony built-in flashes), and one feature I especially like with this flash is being able to bounce the flash off the ceiling for a more natural look, avoiding the “washed out” look that happens with many flash exposures.” – By Frank Pronk

Great Flash
“I purchased this flash for my Sony R1. It is completely compatible. I have not needed to use any cables for connection. The flash has been a wonderful addition. If you are looking for a fully compatible flash, this is certainly one of your only choices with Sony, and it is a good one.” – By Adam S. Laroche

Excellent overall little flash
“The flash is very good close-up, very good outdoors against the light. Sony’s sophisticated flash control helps get exposures spot-on. It has extra AF assist LED’s for the R1 (best turned off for the V3). I knocked off a full star, though, because it does not rotate, and therefore can’t be bounced off ceilings in portrait format. It comes with a superb pouch and an off-camera mounting bar. Physically it’s neither too big nor too small for what it can do. “ – By Daniel Leigh

night and day
“the pictures i’ve taken with the HVLF32X blows the built in away, like night and day. the improvement is greater than i expected, with the diffuser and the pivoting flash head i can eliminate shadows and no more uneven light saturation on the subject or object you are shooting. this an easy way to improve your flash pictures especially if your an amature like myself. also comes with a side extension rig that mounts under the camera where the tripod goes, then the tripod mounts to the flash rig if you choose. very versetile unit.” – By William Dyer

Great addition to a great camera
“I got my Sony DSC F828 a year and a half ago and have wanted an external flash for it since day one. The Sony HVLF32X is easy to use and I love the fact that you can change its angles for direct flash or ambient lighting. For this camera, the cable isn’t needed so I just slid it on to the hot shoe location and it was good to go. It does have a decent turnaround between pictures, fast enough for me and I have a tendency to keep clicking. “ – By Charlotte M. Scherr
