Thanks Sandra, I just fixed the problem which I have had over 1 year ago. Last year I called Sony and they asked me to buy a new battery, it seems to me that it is a common problem with Sony cameras you would think that they would know about it.

I misplaced my stuff to download photos to my computer. I was so relieved to find an inexpensive device called a Converter Drive. I just put the memory card into the Converter Drive, plug it into the front of my computer and my printer software takes it from there.

Same ordeal same result!

I was having the same problem, though wasn't a fan of bashing my camera on the ground; I had paid $300 for it. ^^; But, I pushed on the lens a bit when it was extending and voila!

It automatically went back on. I turned it off again and tried to turn it on again, to make sure it wasn't a fluke. It was doing the access thing again. I pushed on the lens again and it worked again. I then left the camera on for a bit. Haven't had a problem yet.

Wish we had known this before our vacation; my boyfriend was a tad bit upset. :(

Thanks for the advice!!

Omg, these comments saved my camera! it's thte day before homecoming and my camera was having the same problems! after about 10 minutes of hitting it, trying to force the lens to the side, and pulling on the lens, i tried putting my hand over the lens so it wouldn't come out when i pressed the on button, and turned it on and it worked!
