Sony Alpha SLT-A65 Reviews

Ephotozine reviews the Sony Alpha SLT-A65 and writes;
“ISO100 to ISO400 show low noise from JPEG images. At ISO800 noise starts to become more apparent. At ISO1600 noise grain appears to be very similar, but chroma noise increases. ISO3200 noise grain increases, but still produces usable images.”

Ephotozine reviews the Sony Alpha SLT-A65 and writes;
“The camera has good battery life, and although there is no optical viewfinder with SLT cameras, the new OLED EVF is simply stunning and makes the view through the camera look excellent. Although it is difficult to show on the web, it would be well worth viewing for yourself if you still have doubts about switching from an optical viewfinder to an electronic viewfinder. Highly Recommended.”

Techradar reviews the Sony Alpha SLT-A65 and writes;
“Its EVF – although not quite able to knock the traditional optical viewfinder off its pedestal – is superb; the camera handles very well and is capable of producing very detailed, high quality images.”

Photographyblog reviews the Sony Alpha SLT-A65 and writes;
“Image quality is excellent, with results from the 24.3 APS-C sensor easily rivalling the DSLR competition. Noise doesn’t rear its ugly head until ISO 3200 for JPEGs and even the faster settings prove eminently usable, although the A65 does apply some pretty aggressive noise reduction to keep the files clean as shown by the much noisier RAW images.”

Photoreview reviews the Sony Alpha SLT-A65 and writes;
“Video quality was similar to the A77’s and unless you select the movie mode on the mode dial, the frame is cropped by roughly 15% for widescreen video clips and even more for VGA movies. Interestingly, when you set the camera to the16:9 aspect ratio for shooting stills, only the top and bottom of the frame are cropped, whereas some cropping also occurs along the sides of the frame for HD video shooting.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

Photoreview reviews the Sony Alpha SLT-A65 and writes;
“Auto white balance performance was similar to the SLT-A77 for shots taken under incandescent lighting. However, the A65 we tested delivered closer to neutral colours with fluorescent light. For both lighting types, the pre-sets over-corrected colours slightly but the manual measurement system delivered a neutral colour balance and plenty of in-camera adjustments are provided for tweaking images as you shoot.”

CNET reviews the Sony Alpha SLT-A65 and writes;
“For those photographers who just want to point and shoot on automatic settings without delving too far into the menus, the A65 delivers very attractive and punchy images. Colours in particular look nicely saturated and the excellent LCD screen does a lot to make it seem as if you’ve taken an award-winning image first go.”

Imaging-resource reviews the Sony Alpha SLT-A65 and writes;
“The third important visual characteristic of the Sony A65’s viewfinder is its 100% frame accuracy. This is absolutely a what-you-see-is-what-you- get viewfinder; it shows you exactly what the sensor is seeing.. Making an optical viewfinder with 100% accuracy requires incredibly exacting tolerances, the kind of tolerances that really drive up manufacturing costs.”

PCMAG reviews the Sony Alpha SLT-A65 and writes;
“Imatest also measures image noise at higher ISO settings. The camera can be set as high as ISO 16000, although images are quite noisy when you get to that point. The a65 was able to keep noise below 1.5 percent, the point where an image becomes overly grainy, through ISO 1600. “

Whatdigitalcamera reviews the Sony Alpha SLT-A65 and writes;
“The Alpha 65 is a great mid-price DSLR that provides high levels of performance, particularly when it comes to AF and frame advance that hasn’t really been seen in a camera of this class before. The image quality is excellent, delivering excellent detail, though it can’t quite compete at the higher regions of the ISO range with the competition. “
Rating: ★★★★½

Digitalversus reviews the Sony Alpha SLT-A65 and writes;
“The continuous shooting mode is excellent too, shooting over 8 fps for 20 Jpeg images. The buffer memory could be a little bigger, as in Raw mode the Alpha 65 can only handle seven images at that rate.”
