Sony Alpha NEX-3 Reviews

Imaging-resource reviews the Sony Alpha NEX-3 and writes;
“the Sony NEX-3 performance is pretty good for an SLD overall. Full autofocus is a bit slow compared to most SLRs, but pretty fast for an SLD and on par with most digicams. Cycle times are good too, and Speed Priority continuous mode is very fast, making the NEX-3 suitable for capturing sports as long as the subject distance and lighting doesn’t change much within a burst.”

Trustedreviews reviews the Sony Alpha NEX-3 and writes;
“Shooting with both lenses in our possession we were able to gather an impressive degree of detail shooting on the NEX-3… Both lenses performed very well for general sharpness and detail, though the pancake does maintain a slight advantage in quality, and is of course faster so more suited to indoor photography.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

Photographyblog reviews the Sony Alpha NEX-3 and writes;
“In terms of low light photography the NEX-3 does pretty well. Noise is fairly unobtrusive up to ISO 6400, the look of the image at that high-ish setting as good as results taken at ISO 800 on standard compacts.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

PCMAG reviews the Sony Alpha NEX-3 and writes;
“with the 16mm kit lens, it’s difficult not to recommend the Alpha NEX-3. Sony’s first compact interchangeable lens camera offers top-notch features and design, remarkable image quality and low-light performance, along with incredible speed—and it fits in your coat pocket.”
Rating: ★★★★½

CNET reviews the Sony Alpha NEX-3 and writes;
“it retains almost all the features of its predecessor, including multishot modes like Auto HDR, Sweep panorama, and Handheld Twilight. The latest iteration of HHT mode automatically combines six exposures to obtain better exposures in low light than you might otherwise get. It does a nice job, and there’s less performance overhead than the older algorithm, making it a lot more useful.”
Rating: ★★★½☆

Pocket-lint reviews the Sony Alpha NEX-3 and writes;
“Video shooting of course is the other big change from the NEX-5 and the quality of the 720p footage is good, but not quite as sharp due to the drop in resolution.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

Photoreview reviews the Sony Alpha NEX-3 and writes;
“HD video clips were slightly less saturated than the clips we shot with the NEX-5, although VGA clips showed normal saturation levels. Fortunately, both HD and VGA clips looked quite sharp for their formats when displayed on a computer monitor and a widescreen TV set.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

Expertreviews reviews the Sony Alpha NEX-3 and writes;
“it’s £110 cheaper than the NEX-5 and it produces images of the same calibre, which carries a lot of weight, and makes it one of the cheapest compact system cameras out there. If it was our money, we’d recommend saving that little bit longer to get the NEX-5, but the NEX-3 is a great option for those looking for DSLR-like image quality but don’t want the bulk.”
