Sony 50mm f/2.8 Macro Reviews

Alphamountworld reviews the Sony 50mm f/2.8 Macro and writes;
“The Sony 50mm 2.8 is a high quality lens. It is very sharp, and almost CA (purple/cyan fringing) free. This saves a lot of time with your post processing, and is one of the advantages of a macro lens. I have yet to get any CA that is discernible enough that will need removing from f2.8 to f11 (my normal use range), but some may still want to use a removal tool for some CA shown from f 2.8 to f 4.5.”

Kurtmunger reviews the Sony 50mm f/2.8 Macro and writes;
“The Sony 50mm F/2.8 macro is a very good lens. It’s sharp through F/2.8 to F/11, very sharp from F/4-8. Color fringing is basically non-existent. It focuses good, though keep it on manual up close.”
rating: N/A

Photozone reviews the Sony 50mm f/2.8 Macro and writes;
“The resolution potential of the lens is very high straight from f/2.8. The vignetting is usually not field-relevant and the level of distortions is negligible. The quality of the bokeh is very decent. Technically lateral CAs may be a tad too high at large aperture settings but it’s not really something to worry about.”

Amazingly clear shots | Rating: ★★★★★
“I just purchased the lens and don’t regret it one bit- you get what you pay for and you are definitely getting a high quality lens here- the pictures are incredible-” – by Lattoz

Sony Lens Review | Rating: ★★★★★
“Focus range limiter – either infinity to close, or close to macro. Can be turned on or off. The focus range limiter is a very important feature – it prevents the camera from needlessly swinging the lens all the way from infinity to macro when it re-focuses. Absolutely no vignetting in the corners – full coverage.” – by Roger A. Krupski

Sony 50mm f/2.8 is GREAT! | Rating: ★★★★★
“This little lens is BIG on performance. I took a photo of a blue vase my son brought back from Korea and the blues are rich, deep and very sharp. Sony makes quality lenses and this one is no exception! “ – by Kathy Adams

“Sony 50mm f/2.8 Macro Lens for Sony Alpha Digital SLR Camera Great product!! This lens met all of my close up needs… I sell jewelry and figurines, I get nice detailed shots..” – by Mary E. Guarino

SHARP, SHARP, SHARP! | Rating: ★★★★★
“This glass is going to give you the sharpness you need, the color you wish for, and the depth in your subject.. The focus on this is bearable but not super fast when you’re in macro mode. Use the focus limiter button and it will surprise you how fast it can keep up even on the KM 5D.” – by P. Pham

Awesome Macro Lens! | Rating: ★★★★★
“wow! i hardly ever take this off my camera! i can take a pic of bacteria with this thing! lol, seriously an awesome lens though, you can see very fine detail in the eyes of bugs with this lens.” – by Ricardo Elizondo

Features :
Sharp Macro Focusing
You can get closer to your subject to capture low-angle shots of insects, flowers and other natural wonders — and broad depth of field lets you keep backgrounds in focus too.

Focus Range Limiter
Speeds auto-focus response by limiting the range of distances that are brought into focus — Close-up Range, or Telephoto Range.

Circular Aperture
Because aperture blades form a near circle at the wide openings used for low-light shots, spot-light sources have a pleasing circular defocused effect.

Bright f2.8 Aperture
In conjunction with the Super SteadyShot® image stabilization system of the Sony ± (alpha) DSLR-A100 camera, this lens captures bright, steady images even working with hand-held camera in low light.

Focus Hold Button
For full creative control, a focus hold button located on the lens can lock auto-focusing.

High Contrast and Resolution
Excellent optical precision gives your shots greater visual accuracy for close analysis of your subject.

Auto Clutch
In auto-focus mode, the manual focus ring does not rotate — which improves handling ease.
