Sony 16-80mm f/3.5-4.5 ZA DT Reviews
CameraLabs reviews the Sony 16-80mm f/3.5-4.5 ZA DT and writes;
“So if you’re after a general purpose zoom for an Alpha DSLR with a flexible range and superb optical quality, then the Sony DT 16-80mm should certainly be high on your list. If however you’re looking for a lens which focuses much quicker than the kit model or offers a significant step-up in build quality, then you may be disappointed.”

Photozone reviews the Sony 16-80mm f/3.5-4.5 ZA DT and writes;
“Assuming a good sample the Zeiss ZA 16-80mm f/3.5-4.5 DT is surely an excellent lens..At 16mm vignetting is a problem at f/3.5 and the level of barrel distortions is very high. CAs are also visible here although not worse than comparable zooms. At about 700-800€/US$ the lens resides somewhere between the typical consumer and pro grade zooms.”

PopPhoto reviews the Sony 16-80mm f/3.5-4.5 ZA DT and writes;
“Is the Zeiss upgrade worth the extra $470? For many, yes. It’s marginally faster, with a significantly wider zoom range, and the construction is all-metal instead of plastic…. DxO tests found less than half the color fringing in images from the Zeiss compared to those from the kit lens. Depending on your subject, that can mean visibly improved sharpness.”

Dyxum reviews the Sony 16-80mm f/3.5-4.5 ZA DT and writes;
“if in my possession (I don’t have the money currently for it since I need to save something for the next Sony DSLR :)), this lens would be attached to one of my 7D bodies most of the time. It’s a wonderful piece of optics with a character missed from so many lenses now. I liked it very much !”

PhotoClubAlpha reviews the Sony 16-80mm f/3.5-4.5 ZA DT and writes;
“This lens has a performance which combined with reasonable speed and good close focusing should make it the reason to choose the Alpha system. It must be the ultimate travel companion. It’s a pity that mail order could be a lottery if my experience is in any way typical.”
