Hi, It appears that the SD15 only produces good quality images at ISO 100 or ISO 50
settimgs. Also using a top quality lens is very important as the colour and contrast in the images makes purple fringing easy to see on lower quality lenses. The sharpness and colour appears similar to that resulting from high contrast and colour saturation increase. For some reason the dynamic range appears to work better in the highlights. Shadow detail often appears darker than expected.
It has (Effective pixels) 14.06 MP (2,652 X 1,768 X 3)one for each layer, however it only takes 4.7 megapixel images ( 2,652 X 1,768 =4.69 million pixeks) you can double the number of pixels by a setting in the software RAW convertion, possibly because the original lower res image is so clear. I really wanted this camera to be the best, and it is capable of good results but sadly so much competition is there! (don't compare the nikon D700!) At least it is finaly available at a lower cost.
There are many Sigma lenses available but if only it had been made with a Nikon or Canon lens mount with all lens controls enabled. It may be worth buying at the lower price if the lenses you already own could be used. Best option for that is the nikon mount kit available on ebay, but manual functions only. It could make a great infrared camera if dust cover removed and replaced with infrared filter.
