“the new Sigma 30mm f/2.8 EX DN is definitely worth considering by Micro Four Thirds and Sony E-Mount users alike, thanks largely to its aggressively low price-tag. It may not offer the fastest aperture, best build quality or most features in its class, but it does deliver sharp results and snappy auto-focusing for a modest financial outlay.”

Sigma 30mm F2.8 EX DN User Reviews

Sharp lens – great for m4/3
“It’s sharp and focuses very quickly. It’s small enough (not small like a pancake lens, but it’s just right) and still keeps my EPL1 down to a compact size.” – By Gerard Garcia
Rating: ★★★★★

Excellent for price point
“F/2.8 isn’t the best available, but it beats the kit lens, and does have great performance for the price point. Pleasing bokeh. Good portraits, and f/2.8 is just enough aperture to create nice depth of field to separate your subject (which you cannot do much with the kit lens). Good zoomed in scenic shots. Very light. Fast autofocus. Smooth manual focus.” – By R. Doyle
Rating: ★★★★★

Effective low cost prime
“Focusing, on the OM-D, is quiet (no “rattle snaking” noise). Focusing is quick, and I’ve not seen evidence of searching for focus on the OM-D body.. Vignetting (light drop off in the corners of the photograph) is not a major factor, even with the lens opened up to 2.8. The images are sharp (on the OM-D body) and the colors good.” – By J.W. Hart
Rating: ★★★★★

Good, cheap lens
“Low distortion, pretty sharp even wide open, fast focusing, lightweight. In the cost vs worth lens argument, this lens wins hands down: it is worth the (very low) cost.” – By Zachary Wagner
Rating: ★★★★☆

Perfect portrait lens
“60mm equivalent is excellent for portraits, f2.8 max aperture gives good bokeh, reasonable low light performance, step motor is fast, excellent sharpness, stacks up to other m43 primes in IQ” – By Andrzej Wierzbicki
Rating: ★★★★★

Zuiko lens lover is impressed
“This will be a great “stealth” lens for my OM-D – not pancake, but nicely compact and a really pretty design. Build quality is fine (plastic lens, metal mount), focusing is fast. In-camera image stabilization on the OM-D is so good that the 2.8 is actually pretty useful.” – By Anne
