“I’ve had this lens for about 1 month now. I’m very pleased with the IQ I am getting, pictures are sharp and colors are good. Haven’t had any focusing problems at all. I also have the Canon 24-70L and the sigma is a LOT easier to use as a walk around lens. The color and sharpness is better on the canon but I can’t make a direct comparison between the 2 since I have the Sigma on a Nikon D700 so it’s a little wacky to compare two different lens on two different cameras. “ – by Joe Photo

“Had it for about 6 weeks. Fantastic lens with sharp corner and amazing anti-flare capability. Like its build, compactness and color very much. F2.8 delivers great images, so I always use its maxi aperture for portraits. “Having used both the canon 24-70L on a canon and nikkor 24-70 lens on our D-300, the Sigma compares very favorably. For a non-professional photographer, it is as good as the two other lenses. It also does not “reverse” zoom (ie shorter = 24mm, longer lens= 70mm), unlike the canon L series. We are very impressed and pleased with the results. We would definitely buy this lens again. “I’ve recently sold my Nikon 24-70 and bought the Sigma 24-70 HSM in its place. For me, the more compact size was the biggest reason for the switch. The Nikon is much too large for its focal range imo. What I like most about the new Sigma is the length. It fits nicely in my bag, on camera, along with my other equipment. The funny thing is, the Sigma is still quite a large lens. Mostly because of the diameter.” – by Saber

“Bought the lens, have been using it now for over 2 weeks, very sharp, im getting awesome picture, great contrast, no vignetting at least on 24-60mm range. I simply love the lens. “Long story short this is a great lens that I have now worries with using mixed in with my other sharp Canon lenses. It is sharp and focuses fast and quietly. It is solid but not too big and has a nice finish I prefer over the Canon’s slicker white L paint.” – by R. Cleaton

“This is a superb lens — and I mean truly superb. It is the IQ equivalent of the Nikon 24-70 2.8 lens, and I don’t say that lightly. The IQ between shots taken with this lens and with the Nikon version are indistinguishable, even by pixel peepers, and at half the price. Highly recommended. It balances beautifully on a D700 body, and it is super silent, fast focusing, and just a joy to use. Beware! “It has been a great lens w/no focusing issues! I originally was using it on a Nikon D80 and now a D700. It’s great in low light and though a little heavy, it has been my walk around lens. This large aperture standard zoom lens covers focal lengths from 24mm and is housed in compact construction. The latest optical design provides an overall length of 94.7cm /3.7inch. It is ideal for general photography such as snapshots, portraiture and landscapes. The Super Multi Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting. ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion) glass, two SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass elements and three aspherical lenses provide excellent correction of all types of aberrations. Superior optical performance is ensured throughout the entire zoom range. This lens incorporates HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), ensuring a quiet and high speed AF as well as full time manual focusing capability. This lens has a minimum focusing distance of 38cm/15in and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:5.3. The rounded 9 blades diaphragm creates an attractive blur. It is possible to attach the included petal-type hood to block out extraneous light.
