CNET reviews the Sigma 18-250mm f3.5-6.3 DC MACRO OS HSM and writes;
“Photographers often have to compromise when it comes to third-party lenses, particularly ones that cover such extreme focal lengths as the 18-250mm. This Sigma model is excellent value for money, offering good sharpness and performance, with a lengthy zoom.. Bokeh, or the out-of-focus areas of light in the image, is particularly pleasing. The 7 blade design produces smooth-looking and mostly circular bokeh. Colour rendition is very good, with accurate reproduction of natural scenes.”

Very nice lens. New leader in the “walkaround” category
“I am very very pleased with this newest superzoom from Sigma, paired with my Canon 60D. Build quality is excellent. Image quality is sharp at both ends of the range. Focus is quick and quiet. OS works extremely well. It is light weight and compact compared to others in this category, which adds to its value as a “walkaround” lens.” – By GaryPen

This fills my needs
“it a great deal, taking wildlife(Birds) and taken some great landscapes since the colors are coming out now. This lens really performs when I’m following a Hawk during a soar. Also have used it taking shots of my grand children at play and got some really great shots using the full spectrum of this lens. Great lens for just about any type of photography” – By mclevel

Good All-around Convenient Lens
“Very compact & lightweight, and a good value. Seems to auto-focus at the speed of my Nikon lenses. As for sharpness, it’s on par with my other zooms. I have noticed softness in the upper left corner at 250mm, but it’s probably acceptable given the purpose & price category of this model. Chromatic aberration appears quite low on raw images, and distortion is good enough.” – By Paul

Works great on my Nikon D3100
“With the Nikon VR 18-55mm lens, that thing was possessed and would rarely hold a good focus point for me, especially in low light. In good lighting indoor our outdoor, no problems with the AF on either lens. But in the low light, the Sigma lens works much better and I can focus onto an object much faster and take quick shots with my D3100 now.” – By SDM

Initial Review A+++++
“I just purchased my first DSLR in August (Cannon T3i),.. I am thrilled with my first 500+ pictures from the Sigma. I took stills of landscapes, zoomed macro images of plants, action photos of wakeboarding/watersking, videos, etc. and I felt that this lens made it easy to take beautiful photographs & video, even for a novice like me.” – By Chipper312

Excellent General Purpose Lens
“Image quality is very good for the class of lens. It doesn’t hod up to a good prime or “L” lens but its price is not in the same ballpark either. I do notice some barrel distortion on the short end but that is easily fixed with Lightroom or Photoshop. OS (optical stabilization) works well allowing for hand holding some shots that would otherwise require better support.” – By Jeremy Stoffel

Excellent Lens for Light Traveling
“This lens does an excellent job as an overall shooter – from wide angle to telephoto and even when you want that special macro shot. The lens is not as sharp as my Canon L lens but is more than acceptable. It is fast autofocus and very quiet.. I use a Canon T4i and it partners very well with it. Again, a very nice carry lens that does several jobs very well.” – By Mox

Perfect lens
“This item is amazing. I thought I had everything I needed until I purchased this. It does it all. I have had so much fun since I’ve had this. Make the investment it’s worth every penny. When travelling I will only be taking this as the weight is very easy on the hand. The really close shots bring out so much detail.” – By Michael J. Austin
