Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM MACRO Reviews

Lenstip reviews the Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM MACRO and writes;
“Excellent image quality in the frame centre, Very good image quality on the edge of the frame for both, the APS-C/DX sensor and full frame, Solid casing, Sensational correction of chromatic aberration, Zero distortion, Very well-corrected coma, Slight astigmatism, Silent and quite accurate autofocus,”
rating: N/A

Thephoblographer reviews the Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM MACRO and writes;
“Sharpness is also quite impressive for this lens.. the sharpness is a little soft wide-open at 2.8. However, stopping the lens down brings that sharpness under control throughout the rest of the aperture range.”
rating: N/A

The-digital-picture reviews the Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM MACRO and writes;
“CA (Chromatic Aberration) is very well controlled. Vignetting is minimal. Distortion is negligible. Although it has 8 aperture blades, bokeh (quality of OOF areas) is only OK (not as smooth as the Canon 100mm Macro for example).”
rating: N/A

Techradar reviews the Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM MACRO and writes;
“With plenty of impressive technology inside the lens, it comes as little surprise that the lens performs to an exceptional standard. It produces negligible distortion, and next to similar lenses it produces surprisingly little chromatic aberration, too.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

User Opinions

Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM MACRO User Reviews

Excellent lens
“The quality of the pictures are very good, details are more perceptible, the colors and contrast are very good, much better if you compare pictures at full resolution , the sigma one’s look much better.” – By J. Pasco “Lord Vader”
Rating: ★★★★★

Excellent Quality
“I bought this lens after a detailed comparison with the Nikon 105mm.. The only difference I saw between them was the focus speed of Nikon is slightly better than the Sigma. My considerations were more around sharpness and image quality as a whole: sigma’s results were the same as Nikon. So I went ahead and purchased this lens.” – By hema3

Features & Specifications

Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM MACRO Specifications

The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the new Sigma MACRO 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS HSM.

This large aperture medium telephoto macro lens offers advanced performance of close-up photography. Sigma’s own proprietary OS (Optical Stabilizer) system enables handheld close-up photography. A Special Low Dispersion (SLD) lens and one high refractive index SLD lens provide excellent correction for all types of aberration and distortion. A floating focusing system moves two different lens groups in the optical path to different positions.

This system compensates for astigmatic aberration and spherical aberration and provides extremely high optical performance from infinity to 1:1 Macro.

The Super Multi-Layer Coating reduces flare and ghosting, providing high contrast images. It is also possible to use this lens with Sigma’s APO TELE CONVERTERS.

The HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) ensures quiet and high speed autofocus as well as full-time manual focus capability. This lens features a splash proof design for use in harsh conditions and a rounded 9 blade diaphragm creating an attractive blur to the out of focus areas of the image.
