Samsung SPP-2040 Digital Photo Printer Reviews

Expertreviews reviews the Samsung SPP-2040 Digital Photo Printer and writes;
“Output quality was very respectable. We did detect a slight hatching pattern in light areas and skin tones on some prints taken with a digital camera and output from Photoshop, but colour was accurate and prints were otherwise blemish free.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

Trustedreviews reviews the Samsung SPP-2040 Digital Photo Printer and writes;
“Print quality is very good with natural and accurate colours printed without dots. The dye sublimation technique means ink is transferred as a vapour from the backing film to the paper, so you get a ‘continuous tone’ print, very similar to a classic, silver halide photograph.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

PCmag reviews the Samsung SPP-2040 Digital Photo Printer and writes;
“We rated the quality of output as very good, which means that most prints are true photo quality with a few minor flaws. When we tested the SPP-2040 in Normal mode (the default), the color in some photos was oversaturated, and images tended to lose a bit of detail in light areas (clouds in a light-blue sky, for example). Best mode actually exaggerated those problems, so ironically, Normal is the best mode—it’s easily good enough for snapshots, photo albums, and even framing, for most photos.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

CNET reviews the Samsung SPP-2040 Digital Photo Printer and writes;
“Prints emerged in about 65 seconds, with accurate, neutral colours that reproduced flesh tones especially well. Saturation was rich but not exaggerated, and the prints showed good detail in highlights and shadows. The composite blacks (the ribbon lacks a black panel) looked dark and neutral. We saw some banding under 10x magnification, but it wasn’t disturbing to the naked eye.”

Pcstats reviews the Samsung SPP-2040 Digital Photo Printer and writes;
“The image quality of a dye-sublimation printer is first rate, making it difficult to spot the photo-printed picture on your wall from those of 35mm film negatives. The glossy photo paper prints are also going to hold up better over time. The dye-sub thermal transfer process makes the dye less prone to fading, and it is impervious to finger smudges, water drops and other moisture related accidents that can destroy inkjet printed pictures…”

Samsung SPP-2040 Digital Photo Printer User Reviews

Amazing photos, super easy to use, just a couple of gripes
“I’ve gotten maybe 100 photos off the SPP-2040 so far and continue to be amazed at the quality. Takes a full 60 seconds for one print but it’s fun to watch as the photo paper passes through 4 times to lay down each of the primary colors and a black. Costs about 39 cents a print if you buy replacement paper and ribbons in quantity..” – by Charles Darwin

excellent for the price
“This is great for families and amatuer photogs who want a quick way to see their work. As good as drug store prints and right when you want them. Software is easy to setup and use. Printer is quick and so far dependable. Be aware that when hooked to an xp pc, for some reason, the software switches the samsung to the default printer. So after a printing session check to make sure you’re usual printer is on line again. Other than that small quirk, no problems at all.” – by Quick Smart

Great photos
“We bought this printer several months back. It prints beautiful photos, generally well-balanced colors and of a good quality. The final layer is waterproof and fingerprintproof, so it is great for making prints to share with friends and family (especially kids)…” – by L. Hui

exceeds expectations
“This is agreat printer which outperforms the kiosk printers in photo shops a drug stores. Not only can you crop and darken and brighten photos you can print in sepia black and white and antique. It will add borders and allow color corrections. I took photos of a christmas display in a shopping mall which turned out with a blue cast. The printer will adjust the colors to reduce or increase blues or reds. I couldn’t be more satisfied with my purchase. Any one considering a dye sub printer will not be diappointed with the samsung spp 2040.” – by Harry E. Cranford

Samsung printer
“I was looking for a photo printer that would take my memory card from my digital camera. I found this one and after reading the review I thought I would try it. Boy am I ever glad I did. This is a great printer! The photos look very professional. The colors are perfect, What a great machine. I love it and will show it off every chance I get. If your thinking of buying 1 get this one. It even takes 7 diffrent cards.” – by T. Winkelman

An excellent alternative to inkjet-based printers, & cheaper
“Loading the color cartridge is very easy; navigating the menu settings is easy and intuitive; accepts the standard array of flash memory cards; nice quality LCD display on which you may view four pics simultaneously; general construction is not flimsy, even attractive, and looks like it should last a good while. Pictures haven’t had any pixelation – very photo-lab-like – and seem to be just as resistant to moisture as processed film.” – by Eyesk

Excellent Value and Good Quality
“I am quite satisfied with the purchase. There are some minor flaws like slightly darker picture than what displayed on computer screen (almost hard to notice however). Also this printer can not print from USB Flash drive. Overall media can get a little pricey but prints are very good and there is always saving when you get a 120 pack.” – by Elegant End

PIcture Perfect – Well for $68.00 Perfect enough
“Printed my first 2 pictures and all was wonderful. The quick install book is in Japanese, no joke however the instruction book is 40 pages and in English, but you only need that if your printing off line, or your creating special effects. The manual looks a little intimidating though, especialy to a Dyslexic. If you are hooking up to your PC as I did, you need the printer cable from Comp-USA, Microcenter or some such outfit, $25.00 It prints great pictures, good luck.” – by Is it So who knows
