Samsung NX100 Reviews

Adorama reviews the Samsung NX100 and writes;
“While the NX100 does not challenge the Sony NEX5 as the MILC category’s image quality leader, it wins on price and in general, image quality is perfectly fine for most uses. If you want to get in on the compact, mirrorless interchangeable-lens camera revolution but are on a tight budget, the Samsung NX100 is well worth considering.”

MacWorld reviews the Samsung NX100 and writes;
“Up to ISO 400, the image quality is excellent from the NX100. Photos have clean color fidelity with noise well controlled. Images were sharp with good definition. Between ISO 800 and 1600, the NX100 still performed admirably, but with more visible noise.”
Rating: ★★☆☆☆

ExpertReviews reviews the Samsung NX100 and writes;
“Superb controls squeezed into a small space, but poor image quality in low light is a significant flaw for a large-sensor camera.”
Rating: ★★☆☆☆

CGG reviews the Samsung NX100 and writes;
“The image quality has great visual appeal and is as we said, better than any compact, and almost as good as any APS-C DSLR. The NX100 is intuitive to use and surprisingly adept at delivering excellent photos, and it does all of this for just north of $500”
Rating: ★★★★☆

AmateurPhotographer reviews the Samsung NX100 and writes;
“the NX100 enters the compact-system camera market as one of the cheapest options and excels where it matters – in image quality. It looks great and its APS-C-size sensor with 14.6 million effective pixels ensures very good DSLR-quality images. It’s a great option for those on a budget looking for a compact camera with good image quality. “

Steve’sDigicams reviews the Samsung NX100 and writes;
“From ISO 100-1600 is where the camera really shines. Like I mentioned earlier, I had no problem capturing some keepers when the camera chose settings as high as 800, or up to 1600 when selected manually.”

Shutterbug reviews the Samsung NX100 and writes;
“photographers can expect nice and clean results in speed settings up to ISO 400 and good results in images taken with ISO 800 to 3200.”
Rating: N/A reviews the Samsung NX100 and writes;
“Noise starts to creep into photos at about ISO 400, and colours and detail starts to take a serious hit at ISO 800 – so investing in that external flash could prove a necessity for anyone who doesn’t live in perpetually sunny climes.”
Rating: ★★★☆☆

T3 reviews the Samsung NX100 and writes;
“The NX100 may be reasonably priced but doesn’t as yet feel quite as convincing a compact system solution as rivals from Olympus, Panasonic and Sony.”
Rating: ★★★☆☆ reviews the Samsung NX100 and writes;
“the NX100 delivers consistent sharpness and avoids the pitfall of focus falling off toward the edges of frame when shooting at the maximum wide-angle setting. We were also impressed by the colours that the camera delivers. They really pop out at you.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

PocketLint reviews the Samsung NX100 and writes;
“With no flash and no viewfinder built in, the NX100 is difficult to place. Poor battery life, a limited buffer size for RAW shooting and general bulky design are all additional problems. On the upside it’s affordable, the new iFn lens compatibility is great, but it is generally too little to compete with the strong competition out there”
Rating: ★★★☆☆

Pixiq reviews the Samsung NX100 and writes;
“The large sensor with oversized pixels provides great light gathering ability for a high signal-to-noise ratio to provide better than average results at high ISO levels. My best ISO 800 JPEGs look great as 11×16” prints. At ISO 1600, extra Noise Reduction processing provides a smooth effect, but tends to soften fine detail. “
Rating: N/A

WDC reviews the Samsung NX100 and writes;
“Image quality is on par with that from the NX10 and image noise is exhibited in some form throughout the ISO range when viewing at 100%. ISO 100-200 images are low-noise, though both colour and luminance noise are subtly visible from ISO 400 and increase hereafter, particularly in the black and shadow areas. “
Rating: ★★★☆☆ reviews the Samsung NX100 and writes;
“HD video clips were generally clear and colour accurate and we found little evidence of the rolling shutter effect that plagues many large-sensor cameras. VGA and QVGA clips were much as you’d expect for their respective resolutions and focusing and exposure lags were equally noticeable.”
Rating: ★★★☆☆

Photoxels reviews the Samsung NX100 and writes;
“At ISO 100 to 400, noise is under control. Noise starts to be slightly visible at ISO 800 but is still very acceptable. Noise (with detail loss) is quite visible at higher ISOs. Auto ISO ranges from 100 to 1600, in 1EV step or 1/3EV step, depending on what you set it to be [Menu – User – ISO Step]. Overall, very good noise handling.”
Rating: ★★★☆☆ reviews the Samsung NX100 and writes;
“The NX100 is very much a camera that will suit a certain type of photographer — one that doesn’t demand too much from their shooting experience but needs a compact, lightweight and easy-to-use interchangeable lens system. On this front it succeeds very well, with everything you could ask for … “
Rating: ★★★☆☆

DigitalVersus reviews the Samsung NX100 and writes;
“The NX100 isn’t a bad camera but it’s not compact enough, it isn’t very original and it has no flash or stabilisation system (with the 20-30 mm kit lens, at least). There are better compacts with interchangeable lenses out there.”
Rating: ★★★☆☆

    Good review! I think this camera will be great because of its “art filters”, which is also the thing I like about the Olymp.P1 and dislike for the lack of, with the Panas.GF1. Maybe all the different cool apps/features on the Iphone has clouded my judgement.

  2. mark says:

    I believe that NX100, mirrlorless interchangeable lens camera, is somewhere between DSLR/SLR and compact P&S categories. Hope NX100 gets as popular as NX10, which had been released earlier this year.

    A great camera i use many time in the city with the 30mm F2.0 for journalism pics. Jpeg is a little bit overprocessed (sharper than RAW) which increase noise in dark areas. So RAW processing is really a better choice specially if you shot in low light situation.
