Samsung Digimax A55W – Review at DCresource

Jeff Keller has posted his review on Samsung Digimax A55W, 5 megapixel CCD point-and shoot digital camera with 28mm wide angle lens.

Here are the pros and cons:

“What I liked: Wide-angle, 4.8X zoom lens for very little cash, Large 2.5″ LCD display (though see issues below), Well built plastic body; metal tripod mount a nice touch, Very nice movie mode, USB 2.0 High Speed support

What I didn’t care for: So-so photo quality, Poor showing in redeye and night shot tests, Noticeable shutter lag, slow focusing, Poor low light focusing, despite AF-assist lamp, LCD not usable in low light; screen didn’t seem terribly sharp either, Sluggish continuous shooting mode; LCD blacks out during shooting, Unusual menu system could use some refinement, No Mac software included”

hi! im agree with you about de A55W, it takes a lot of time to take a pictures and load again de flash energy, the photos at the night are so poor and lousy, even when i take myself a photo, the flash is too “white” and make me look like michael jackson face.

the colors taken by this camera are not the best, they are not the real ones, and the flash activates even if there’s enough light.
i just can’t get along with this camera, i had before a samunng A503 which was the best camera i ever had despite it hasn’t an optical zoom.
the only good point about the A55W is the Xvid codec to take video at a decent 30 frame and 640X480. but it lacks again on quality or white exposure. it’s good built but the flash is too strong and the lens is too lousy at low light scenarios.i had to buy this camera because was my only choice at 3 days before going to europe, unfortunately my A503 was stolen from my car and that’s why i aquired the A55W i liked a lot your review, thx
