aLTHOUGH THE COMPETITION IS BIG AT THIS MOMENT IN THIS RANGE, ALTHOUGH I'M A sONY OWNER, I FORCED MYSELF TO AT LEAST TEST 3 DIFFERENT CAMS BEFORE BUYING ONE.

Tested the Sony HV5x, Casio fh100, Pana TZ7-8-10, Nikon S8000, and finally i had to travel far to find a CX3.

First remakr; all the other cams are plastic, this one is alu, so the initial feeling is big, secondly; all the buttons and dial are very solid, the TZ7 almost switches by itself when your touch it(dial change dposition from the 7 to the8/10).

than i took some pics....and then you see the difference.

My idea; Ricoh makes cameras to make great pictures, all other make cameras with great technology...

my advice; don't stare at the spec differences on paper, go out to dealers and actually test the cams side by side, if you do so, i 'm sure more people will buy Ricoh.

Ricoh just closed its European offices and does not directly guarantee its cameras anymore. Its French agent, Vilma, refuses to repair my still guaranteed Ricoh camera which has the lens blocked in open position (letting the dust getting inside the lens). New cameras from Sony (HX5), Canon (Powershot 210) and Panasonic seem to offer much better performances and, because of the lack of guaranty from Ricoh, I would advise to avoid this camera.
