Pentax Optio Z10 Reviews

GoodGearGuide reviews the Pentax Optio Z10 and writes;
“The Pentax Optio Z10 is not without flaws, but the 7x optical zoom and impressive feature set help boost its appeal. For the asking price it is a decent little unit.”
Rating: ★★★½☆

PhotographyBlog reviews the Pentax Optio Z10 and writes;
“Performance was quite good, with focusing fast and accurate even in low-light, but it’s best to stick to the single-shot mode and not expect too much from the slow continuous mode. Overall the Pentax Optio Z10 is appealing on paper, but less so in the flesh, with poor image quality letting down what could have been a successful venture for Pentax.”
Rating: ★★★½☆

ImagingResource reviews the Pentax Optio Z10 and writes;
” Though we’re not as impressed with the onscreen image performance at 100%, the printed results are quite good. The 8.0-megapixel images can produce very sharp ISO 64 and 100 11×14-inch prints, and even 13×19-inch prints don’t look bad. ISO 400 shots can produce a competent 8×10, and even ISO 1,600 shots turn in a decent 5×7.”

PopPhoto reviews the Pentax Optio Z10 and writes;
” Unlike with most point and shoot cameras, images shot at twilight at ISO-settings up to 1600 were still usable, apparently without the use of a blur filter to cut back on noise and steal too much resolution. Noise became visible at ISO 200, but images captured through ISO 800 still looked very good.”

CameraLabs reviews the Pentax Optio Z10 and writes;
“the Z10 is a fair compact with a bigger than average zoom, and a non-extending lens which unusually can be used while filming a video. But the lack of optical or sensor-shift stabilisation is pretty unforgivable in this day and age – especially for a 7x zoom model – and the fact you can get so much more from the competition at little extra cost makes it ultimately hard to recommend.”

Rating: ★★★½☆

Steve’sDigicams reviews the Pentax Optio Z10 and writes;
” This is one of the easiest cameras to use that you will find when in “green mode”, but there are also several manual controls in program mode. The quality of the images is good as long as the ISO is kept down. That said, with a price ranging between US$220 – $250, this is a very nice camera with a slew of useful features and versatility that you wont find on too many other cameras in this price range.”
Rating: N/A

DigitalCameraInfo reviews the Pentax Optio Z10 and writes;
“.. there’s more and better competition in this price range especially when the Z10’s performance is taken into account. With less than ideal dynamic range and more noise than is tolerable (above ISO 200), the Pentax Optio Z10 is a hard sell for any photographer.”
Rating: N/A

LaptopMag reviews the Pentax Optio Z10 and writes;
“Our 8-megapixel shots showed decent color on a sunny day, but in the shade, photos started to look wan; fall leaves looked radiant, but a turquoise scarf looked drab. Natural Skin Tone mode does a good job of brightening faces.”
Rating: ★★★☆☆

CNET reviews the Pentax Optio Z10 and writes;
“The bottom line: Pentax’s Optio Z10 isn’t quite as nice as the company’s Optio S10, but its attractive price helps make up for its quirks and modest feature set.”
Rating: ★★★½☆

DigitalCameraReviews reviews the Pentax Optio Z10 and writes;
“The images were generally pretty strong with this camera with good color saturation; however some were prone to noise/graininess as it switched to higher ISO settings. The auto focus performed well with portraits but quick action shooting was difficult and focus was spotty.”
Rating: N/A

PhotographyBlog reviews the Pentax Optio Z10 and writes;
“The Pentax Optio Z10′s image quality is below average. The camera’s main drawback is noisy images, with the relatively slow speed of ISO 200 showing some noise and blurring of detail. The noise gets progressively worse as you go from ISO 400 to ISO 800 and finally to the completely unusable 1600 and 3200 settings. ”
Rating: ★★★½☆

ePhotozine reviews the Pentax Optio Z10 and writes;
“The picture quality is very good apart from the fringing which only happens on extreme contrasting areas. The 7x optical zoom will come in very useful for those hard to reach places. For the happy snapper that only needs a camera for days or nights out, then the Pentax Optio Z10 is perfectly suited to that task. ”
Rating: ★★★½☆

RegHardware reviews the Pentax Optio Z10 and writes;
“On the plus side, the Z10 offers very good low-light performance. In one of our tests, the only light source was from a small torch, but the Z10 had no problems in producing a decent image, given the circumstances. But too many interior shots suffered from poor colour or contrast.”
Rating: ★★★½☆

PocketLint reviews the Pentax Optio Z10 and writes;
“The new lens design had to be good to cope with this camera’s pixel-packed and tiny sensor and to a large degree it copes well. Yes there is blue and purple fringing in some high contrast areas of some shots (it even bleeds into shadows on some of my shots, so perhaps, not quite so good), but at lower ISOs detail is good..”
Rating: ★★★½☆

TrustedReviews reviews the Pentax Optio Z10 and writes;
“Build quality and design are good, and general performance is adequate, but image quality issues and the lack of any image stabilisation limit its usefulness, and it looks rather weak compared to several competing models.”
Rating: ★★★☆☆
