Pentax Optio T30 Reviews
Megapixel reviews the Pentax Optio T30 and writes;
“Noise and compression combine to limit the size of prints that can be produced from the Optio T30’s images, as large size prints can reveal artefacts. Nevertheless, with its 7 megapixel CCD, the Pentax Optio T30 yields images that can be printed out to a 4 x 6 inch (10 x 15 cm) size without any difficulty. The colour saturation is well-suited to prints and, at such a standard size, images are quite detailed.”
Allthingsdigital compares the Pentax Optio T30 to HP Photosmart R937 and writes;
“Touch screens and digital cameras make a good pair. I only wish that the screen quality on these cameras was high enough to stand up to bright sunlight. The HP Photosmart R937 is a bit too bulky, though it feels sturdy in your hand and its 3.6-inch screen is a boon. The Pentax Optio T30’s size and simplified touch user interface make it a good buy. ”
TrustedReviews reviews the Pentax Optio T30 and writes;
“The T30 has a maximum ISO setting of 3200, and produces good results at settings up to 400 ISO, and printable results as high as 1600, which is a pretty creditable performance by any standard. Overall picture quality is about average for this class of camera, with the lens producing good detail and contrast with relatively little wide-angle barrel distortion, although it did produce the opposite pincushion distortion at the telephoto end.”
Photography Review reviews the Pentax Optio T30 and writes;
“The Pentax Optio T30 is leading the way for point-and-shoot digital camera design. With some minor improvements to the camera and some image quality improvement the Optio T30 could be the camera all others will be measured against. And the price is great, too! Similar quality (image-wise) cameras run $100 more and they don’t have the whiz-bang touch screen. This one is going on my short list of must buy point-and-shoots. ”
Pocket-Lint reviews the Pentax Optio T30 and writes;
“When it comes to image quality, it was great, the 7 megapixel sensor gave us no problem with noise apart from shooting at 3200 (something to be expected), and images where bright, crisp and colour balance good in either the snow or bar afterwards…. We loved the T20, however we didn’t love the fact that it took so long to take pictures that you miss the action. Perhaps, we would like to think so, listening to our criticisms, Pentax has gone away and virtually fixed all our grumbles while keeping the image quality top notch. A vast improvement making this a great rather than good camera.”
ePhtozine reviews the Pentax Optio T30 and writes;
“The build quality is very good with a matt metal body and chrome trim. The zoom rocker is solid, and the two buttons on the back, next to the large and very pleasing 3in LCD, are easy to press and activate….Aside from the interface, the other standout feature of the T30 is the ISO range which runs from 64 to an astonishing 3200. While the top mode is all but unusable except for black and white photos, it’s impressive to see such a wide range on a compact. However, the selling point of the camera is the touch screen interface and the 3in LCD and these work well, making the camera a very solid purchase for the first time buyer.”

>> PRESS RELEASE
PENTAX Corporation is pleased to announce the new PENTAX Optio T30, which realizes a slim body while being equipped with a large 3.0-inch LCD monitor that enables for easy viewing. The Optio T30 comes with new functions such as shake reduction which reduces camera shake and subject blurring, and “Face Recognition AF & AE,” which is convenient when photographing people.
1. Easy-to-view 3.0-inch oversized LCD monitor
The Optio T30 is equipped with a high-resolution, oversized 3.0-inch LCD monitor with approximately 230,000 pixels that enables images and menu text to be displayed largely and clearly. The monitor also has a wide viewing angle of approximately 170° from all directions, making it easy to confirm images, even when looking at the monitor diagonally.
2. Shake reduction function
(Digital SR (Shake Reduction)
A mode that reduces camera shakes and blurring of the subject when photographing still images. The sensitivity is adjusted automatically, to as high as the ultrahigh sensitivity of ISO 3200, to match the brightness of the subject. This enables for photography with fast shutter speeds, and images with less blurs can be obtained.
