Pentax MX-1 Reviews

Imaging-resource reviews the Pentax MX-1 and writes;
“On the top deck sits a dedicated exposure compensation dial, a nice touch that will likewise appeal to Pentax’s target customer. And of course, there are plenty of other features aimed at enthusiasts, including fully manual shooting, a DNG raw file format option, sensor-shift shake reduction, dual remote control receivers, and more.”

Ephotozine reviews the Pentax MX-1 and writes;
“It is currently at the more expensive end of the market and offers high image quality and manual controls. While there were some quirks with some of the features, such as HDR, which we would have preferred to have worked better, the camera offers a lot of customisation and editing features within the camera, without the need to process images on your PC.”

Techradar reviews the Pentax MX-1 and writes;
“The Sony sensor onboard the Pentax MX-1 produces some very sharp images with excellent colour rendition, especially in good lighting conditions.”

Photographyblog reviews the Pentax MX-1 and writes;
“The ISO range runs from 100-25600, but we’d recommend sticking with 100-1600 for optimum results, with ISO 3200 as an emergency backup. That fast f/1.8-2.5 lens and effective image stabilisation also mean that the the MX-1 can cope with most lighting environments.”

slrlounge reviews the Pentax MX-1 and writes;
“Reviewing the images that I’ve made with the Pentax MX-1 I see that I’ve been doing quite a bit of street photography and getting very close to my subjects without attracting too much attention (beyond the miaow mode effect). The quiet shutter, small size, retro styling and tiltable screen all helped.”

“The MX-1 features a newly designed 1/1.7″ 12MP back-illuminated CMOS sensor with a top sensitivity of ISO 12,800, while the MX-1 sports a 4x optical zoom ranging from 28-112mm and a max. aperture range of f/1.8-2.5. The lens also features a 1cm Macro feature for close subject shooting, while Pentax claims the Intelligent Zoom function found on the MX-1 increases the zoom coverage up to approximately 7.8x (equivalent to 218mm) without compromising image quality.”

Digitalcamerainfo reviews the Pentax MX-1 and writes;
“the MX-1 offers the usual array of advanced compact features. HD video recording is here at 1080/30p or 720/60p (according to Pentax reps), and we imagine the tilt screen will be a real boon for videographers. There’s also a built-in neutral density filter, which combined with the 1/8000sec max shutter speed should mean you’ll never ever get overexposed shots when shooting at f/2.0 in bright daylight.”

Pocket-lint reviews the Pentax MX-1 and writes;
“While it all feels reassuringly solid and retro, the tiltable screen brings you back into the modern world, giving you the flexibility to compose those awkward angle shots with ease.. The 3-inch display is a high resolution too, with 920k-dots setting it among the sharper screens you’ll find on a compact camera, so there’s plenty of detail.”
