Pentax K-50 Reviews

CNET reviews the Pentax K-50 and writes;
“With a broad but no-nonsense feature set and weather-sealed body, the K-50 stands out from the crowd for its design and features, and while it doesn’t have best-in-class performance it’s good enough.”
Rating: ★★★½☆

Ephotozine reviews the Pentax K-50 and writes;
“The K-50 sits very comfortably in its niche as a mid-level DSLR, offering a vast array of colour options, a 100% pentaprism finder and weather and dust resistance. Coupling this to a very high level of performance and we have a winning combination of features. Value for money is in no doubt.”

PCMAG reviews the Pentax K-50 and writes;
“The display is extremely sharp, though, and when you activate live view mode you have the option of using focus peaking as a focusing aid. This feature highlights in-focus areas of your frame to improve accuracy when focusing manually.”

Whatdigitalcamera reviews the Pentax K-50 and writes;
“While the weather-sealing is a nice addition that adds to the already quality feel of the K-500, it’s perhaps the fact that the AF points are superimposed in the viewfinder that transforms the performance of the camera, making it a lot more satisfying and pleasurable to use compared to the K-500, making the K-50 one of the best entry-level DSLRs going.”
Rating: ★★★★½

Digitalcamerainfo reviews the Pentax K-50 and writes;
“the K-30 was an excellent camera, and a great deal at its $850 launch price. The K-50 is $150 cheaper, and your $700 still gets you highly competitive image quality, full weather and dust sealing, excellent build quality, and a refined control scheme that should give any aspiring photographer plenty of room to grow.”

Pentax K-50 Features

Pentax K-50 has differences with Pentax K-500 only on the Fully Weather-Sealed Body Design. Beside that, Pentax K-50 combines a 16.3 megapixel APS-C-sized CMOS sensor and PRIME M image processing engine that enable to produce high quality imagery while delivering fast performance throughout the entire camera system. This combination provides a high sensitivity level of ISO 51200, full-resolution continuous shooting rate of 6 fps, and renders both still images and videos with notable image quality and clarity. Not only does it, the camera uses SAFOX IXi+ Autofocus System which offers 11 focus points, including nine cross-type sensors, to quickly and accurately acquire focus.

This camera also support you to record Full HD 1080p video in multiple frame rates up to 30 fps as well as HD 720p recording up to 60 fps. The video recorded can be saved in the high quality H.264 AVC/MPEG-4 codec and saved as .MOV files for easier sharing and editing. There is a 3.0-inch LCD monitor with 921k-dot resolution that provides a wide viewing angle for improved viewing in a variety of shooting positions.

Moreover, Pentax K-500 utilizes in-camera sensor shift image stabilization, which reduces the appearance of camera shake by about three shutter speed steps when working in low-light conditions. The camera also features in-camera RAW (DNG) image processing, HDR shooting capabilities, a variety of filters, scene modes, and auto modes. Traditional manual shooting modes are also available, such as program, shutter-priority, aperture-priority, sensitivity-priority, and manual.
