Is the camera easy to use?

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF3 has a rounded design which makes the camera looks more compact compared to the GF2. Weighing around 222g, this camera is the lightest camera in the class G series cameras is equipped with 3-inches touch screen feature that has a rotary control button to allow users to adjust various settings according to desired needs. As in the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF2, settings on the camera viewfinder is done on the LCD screen to keep the impression of a pocket camera without a viewfinder.

This camera has a touchscreen lock and also equipped with the Quick Menu button to access a menu of recently used and allows users to access frequently used settings like ISO or metering mode. The camera is lightweight and small compared to a DSLR camera. I would happily take it around town all day without worrying hurting my neck.

How does the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF3 perform?

This camera will provide satisfaction for those of you with easy operation and quick. You can turn on the camera and directly take pictures in just one second. The image quality is great with vibrant colors. In bright condition the camera is focusing system is quick and accurate, but it’s a different story when you’re shooting in low light condition. At high ISO, you’ll see some digital noise generated by this camera but I would say that the image looks much better compared to GF2.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF3 can produce great movie with 1080p resolution in AVCHD format, autofocus is running smoothly without any noise. Video in low light condition is also good without having too much noise.

You can choose one of the lenses between Panasonic 14mm f/2.5 lens and Panasonic 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 lens that can be used with this camera to produce high image quality. The Panasonic 14mm f/2.5 lens is our favorite for its slim size and its ability to deliver good quality pictures in low light conditions.

Should I buy the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF3?

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF3 is currently the smallest Micro Four Thirds camera equipped with a built in flash and offers high quality photos, High speed focusing, fast continuous shooting, and full HD video. The camera also takes superb image in low light condition. More advanced users will also love this camera since it is equipped with full manual control.

Are there any alternatives out there?

If you want a compact camera which produces images almost as good as DSLR, then this is your best bet. But for photographers who demand more and don’t mind the size of their camera, the Nikon D5100 or Canon EOS 1100D would serve you better.

Pocket-lint reviews the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF3 and writes;
“Auto focus in video mode is very impressive however, or at least was with our wide-angle test lens attached, softly and silently adjusting perspective in a non jarring fashion as we panned from one subject to another.”

Imaging-resource reviews the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF3 and writes;
“the Panasonic GF3 performed pretty well, with good though slightly cool color in the Far-field shot. Skin-tones were fairly realistic in our Outdoor Portrait shot, with a healthy-looking pink tint. Exposure accuracy was about average, as the camera required +0.7 EV compensation for our Outdoor Portrait shot to keep facial tones reasonably bright.”

Ephotozine reviews the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF3 and writes;
“The enhanced hand grip on the front of the camera, and solid build quality make it easy to hold, however we wish it was still as feature packed as the GF2. At least the camera is still capable of delivering excellent image quality.”

“I decided to use the brand new Panasonic/Leica F1.4, 25mm lens for our macro test shot. Aside from the slight brown color cast, the photo looks great. The subject is tack sharp, with plenty of detail captured. Colors are saturated and accurate..”

User Opinions

Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF3 User Reviews

My wife loves it
“The GF3 user interface is fantastic. No mode dial of the GF1 but GF3 gave focus selection point which speed things back up. Contrast detect is wonderful. I also thought the GF3 UI learning curve is very intuitive.” – By W. Soh

Great Camera
“Low light photos come out great, the flash (while not as powerful as my Nikon) is adequate for most situations, and response is quick. Pictures are sharp and skin tones are natural.” – By Joseph S

Niftiest little camera
“Of course, the way to really maximize image quality is to pair this camera with Leica M or screw mount lenses via simple adapters. The camera makes it super easy to manually focus and expose right from the touchscreen.” – By S. Fazli

An excellent step up from a point and shoot or a great DSLR companion
“The 14mm f/2.5 kit lens is compact and nicely made. It is sharp from corner to corner, even wide open. If you shoot JPEG and turn on the camera’s shading compensation vignetting is not much of an issue, and you’ll might notice it in 1% of your photos.” – By Anthony Pantliano

Little Street/Travel Camera
“It’s size, speed and ease of use makes it a perfect street/trail camera. I love the different focus options available, and I switch between the automatic (iA), touch focus, and manual focus quickly & often.” – By Tony D.
