Olympus PEN E-PM1 Reviews
Photographyblog reviews the Olympus PEN E-PM1 and writes;
“The Olympus E-PM1 produces photos of excellent quality. Noise is very well handled, being virtually absent from ISO 200-1600 and not being too obvious at the relatively fast speed of ISO 3200.”

Techradar reviews the Olympus PEN E-PM1 and writes;
“The excellent build quality, fast autofocus, compact size and relatively low price all add up to a very attractive package. Beginners will love the simple control layout and image quality from the Four Thirds Format Live MOS sensor.”

Imaging-resource reviews the Olympus PEN E-PM1 and writes;
“The E-PM1′s prefocused lag time of 0.075 second is quite fast. Overall, the E-PM1′s AF speeds and shutter lag are excellent for a CSC, though it’s not quite as fast as the more expensive E-P3.”

PCMAG reviews the Olympus PEN E-PM1 and writes;
“iAuto mode is perfect for photography newbies. You won’t have to worry about adjusting settings, as the camera handles everything for you. If you do opt to fine-tune your shots, the PEN Mini’s Live Guide makes it possible to do so without having to understand any technical terms.”

Cameralabs compares the Olympus PEN E-PM1 with Sony Alpha NEX-5N and writes;
“the central crop from the Olympus PEN Mini E-PM1 shows an excellent level of detail with crisply defined edges but, I think the NEX-5N squeezes a small margin of extra detail out of this scene.”
Rating:

Digitalcamerainfo reviews the Olympus PEN E-PM1 and writes;
“We found the Olympus E-PM1 offered very good sharpness results with its 14-42mm kit lens. Unfortunately Olympus takes this a step further by adding a heavy dose of digital sharpening after the fact, as well. The result is a heavy haloing effect around most areas of contrast.”
Rating:

Ephotozine reviews the Olympus PEN E-PM1 and writes;
“Image quality of the Olympus PEN Mini E-PM1 is excellent with excellent detail from the 12 megapixel sensor, with low noise and great colour. The E-PM1 is currently priced at around £430 with kit lens, putting it in direct competition with the cheapest new models including the Sony NEX-C3 (around £399), and Panasonic Lumix GF3 (around £449).”
Rating:

T3 reviews the Olympus PEN E-PM1 and writes;
“For low light photography without flash we were happy with the noise-free results provided when sticking at ISO1600 or below. Pushing it upwards to ISO3200 through ISO6400, noise does start to intrude, but it has a fine grain-like appearance which we felt happy to live with.”
Rating:

Photoreview reviews the Olympus PEN E-PM1 and writes;
“Flash exposures fared rather better than available-light exposures, with slight softening and noise becoming visible at ISO 6400 and less softening and colour shifting visible at ISO 12800. Imatest confirmed a gradual decline in resolution as the ISO sensitivity was raised, as shown in the graph below.”

Whatdigitalcamera reviews the Olympus PEN E-PM1 and writes;
“It manages imressive shot-to-shot times, with a burst of eight raw and JPEG frames being cleared out to the card in an impressive 11 seconds, and the camera ready to shoot while still processing sooner than the others.”

Digitalversus reviews the Olympus PEN E-PM1 and writes;
“The picture is clean, pretty sharp and detailed, and the autofocus works well in spite of an occasional pumping effect. Different sounds can be heard distinctly and are well positioned thanks to an effective stereo effect.”

Digitaltrends reviews the Olympus PEN E-PM1 and writes;
“we’ll recommend the E-PM1 for people considering a responsive, compact interchangeable lens camera that takes good pictures and videos. You really can’t ask for more than that.”

Perfect upgrade
“this camera is perfect as it’s tiny size doesn’t weigh me down. I like to take nature walks and take photos while I’m out, and not having to lug a big camera down the path is nice.” – By pimpass

Cool shooting in a small package
“I am really enjoying this camera. The auto focus and shutter response are very fast, color is excellent, and with a little tweaking and getting used to the sparse buttons and wheels, most of the settings you’ll use a lot are within quick reach.” – By single malt

Awesome little camera
“It is much easier to grab and go than the dslr but the photos are equivalent. The colors are also much more full and vibrant than with any other camera I’ve used.” – By B. D. Burrough

Very pleased
“The image quality is fantastic, as is to be expected from most any modern m 4/3 camera, and if you are used to point and shoots, the pictures this takes will be a revelation in detail and richness. JPEG’s look great, and RAW files are even nicer, and like past Olympus cameras, the color rendition is exceptionally pleasing.” – By Clever Name Goes Here

Great camera, great value, but slightly crippled user experience
“Much faster focus algorithms – even with the same lenses, the PM1 focuses noticeably faster. With the new lenses, it’s faster than any non-dSLR camera I’ve ever used.” – By David Tenser

E-PM1: Fantastic for the price! Beautiful, small, super-fast, sturdy, sharp, light and cheap micro 4/3 camera
“The AF is “super fast” and that’s a small word to define the speed of focus. The original 14-42mm lens is pretty sharp at both ends… The image quality, color and sharpness are higher than what my Panasonic ZS7 is producing.” – By Patrick JG

4/3rds is Really becoming mainstream
“Splenda photos, and excellent color and metering. Up to 3200 ISO, almost noise free. For the price, you can’t go wrong. Much better than a P/S for not much more money.” – By Gregory S. Wilder

Pleasantly Surprised
“Similar to all my Olympus purchases, the E-PM1 is very well built. It has a nice metal body, reasonably light and small. I do wish it had a better grip for one handed use, though those instances are very rare. If you hold the camera like a DSLR (one hand near the shutter and the other underneath the lens), it is very easy and comfortable to hold.” – By Bleu

Pleasantly Surprised
“The auto focus speed using the Panasonic 20mm f1.7 lens is slower than with the 14-42 kit lens. While the 20mm focuses nearly instantly in bright light, it can take up to 2 seconds to focus in low light. Comparatively, the 14-42mm has a worst case focusing time of about half a second in low light.” – By thsu

5-star, great value
“Buil-in Image stabilization is very effective especially with Panasonic 20mm lens you can easily shoot sharp pictures of non-moving objects at 1/10s w/o any blur. Priced at $499 it’s definately the best value for the money in the m43 format.” – By Alex

My first micro four thirds camera
“Olympus E-PM1 is a solid camera with good functionalities. It is small enough to be almost pocketable yet provides many advanced functionalities that rivals entry level dSLRs. As a micro four thirds camera, there are good set of lenses from multiple manufacturers, and Olympus has built very responsive camera with good image quality (IQ) sensor with this E-PM1.” – By mypotbelly
