Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2.0 Reviews

SLRGear reviews the Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2.0 and writes;
“There isn’t much to add here that the tests don’t already say for themselves – the Olympus 12mm ƒ/2 M.Zuiko offers excellent results for sharpness in a quality package. The price might be prohibitive for some, but if you can afford it, you won’t be disappointed.”

Photozone reviews the Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2.0 and writes;
“The optical quality of the M.Zuiko is impressive. The lens is extremely sharp in the center zone whereas the border/corner resolution is generally very good. A highlight is the snappy contrast and the good resistance against flare in back-light – possibly a side-effect of the new ZERO coating.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

Photographyblog reviews the Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2.0 and writes;
“The beautifully crafted, all-metal Olympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2 is a strong performer in the optical department, offering an attractive combination of edge-to-edge sharpness and fast aperture speeds. Peak performance is achieved in the f/4-f/8 range, but the f/2.8 and f11 settings also produce very sharp results.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

Ephotozine reviews the Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2.0 and writes;
“The wide aperture is very useful for taking images in low light conditions and this dinky metal lens makes a perfect companion for street photography due to its compact size and excellent performance at fast apertures.”

Lenstip reviews the Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2.0 and writes;
“The Olympus M.Zuiko Digital 12 mm f/2.0 ED is a very solid lens. In most testing categories it fared well or very well; it had some slip-ups but, fortunately, not very serious ones.”

Photoreview reviews the Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2.0 and writes;
“Autofocusing was nice and fast and very quiet. This makes the lens ideal for shooting video clips. Backlit subjects were generally handled well and the lens was almost flare-free as long as the light source was outside the frame. A lens hood would improve contrast in such situations. Bokeh was much as you’d expect from a wide-angle Micro Four Thirds format lens.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

Amateurphotographer reviews the Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2.0 and writes;
“It works well for landscapes and cityscapes, and is very sharp, although it would be nice to see a 25mm version (giving a 50mm equivalent view).”

Olympus M. Zuiko Digital ED 12mm f/2.0 User Reviews

A Amazing Jewel but a bit of a Dilemma for Most People
“It is optically amazing and fast. The autofocus is ultra silent and quick (I only have Pani bodies). The feel of this lens is magnificent. When you pull back the ring to manual focus, it has hard stops and the focus speed is variable depending on how fast you turn the ring.” – By B. Fuller

Splendid wide angle performance
“The optical performance is remarkable. At wide open, it’s sharp at centre and corner. It’s sharpest at f/2.8 though, but the difference between this and f/2 is possibly visible only at 100 per cent view. Chromatic aberration and vignetting are not really noticeable. Distortion is controlled really well, even for faces near the edge of the photo.” – By Parka

Solid, quality wide angle lens
“The Panasonic 14mm f2.5 is similar in focal length and it is also a very good, cheap, and light lens. But the Olympus is excellent… Image quality is tough for me to judge. Both lenses produce great, sharp images without noticeable artifact.” – By Rishi Agrawal

Sharpest M4/3 Lens I Own
“After using this lens for a couple of weeks on my GF3 and GH2, I can say the sharpness is amazing. At least equal to, if not better then the pany 20mm Prime.” – By terryoregon

Great Reason To Own a MFT Camera!
“The image quality is fantastic. Wide open there’s some minor distortion and vignetting but both are well within tolerable norms. Stop down to F/2.8 and those problems go away – it’s amazing. The lens is literally sharp wide open or stopped down. There’s hardly any noticeable flare and distortion is well-controlled.” – By Scott Bourne

We need more lenses like this
“A rugged all-metal lens (a rarity in m4/3) that is sharp wide open, even at the edges. Expensive, yes, but the best out there in its focal length. I’m a fan of wide-angle lenses, and this is the lens that I usually have mounted on my camera.” – By Odyssey

Wonderful, fast, small, and well made lens
“The snap focus is great and easy to use, allowing you to focus manually. This is perhaps my favorite feature and a great tool for street shooting and its small size is a plus. Takes wonderful and sharp photos of buildings and architecture. Because it’s bright and fast, it’s also a great low light lens and thus takes wonderful interior shots too.” – By koloman moser
