Olympus Camedia D-545 Zoom Review + Sample Images
Cameras.co.uk reviews the Olympus Camedia D-545 Zoom and writes: “The Olympus C-480 is an easy to use digital camera that is aimed primarily at anyone who is looking for a standard point and shoot digital camera. You can use the camera in fully automatic mode where all you have to do is line up the shot, press the shutter button and let the camera make all the key decisions relating to the exposure settings. The C-480 will cope with all the usual types of photos that a social photographer typically takes, such as holiday photos, pictures at parties and social gatherings, plus shots for the family album. “
Cameras.co.uk likes how camera is easy to use, producing really good colors and they say that the camera is quite cheap for a four megapixel camera. However, they don’t like how the camera does not have any connection to television, with poor ability to shoot indoors, some purple fringing evident on some outdoor shots, limited internal memory and long shutter lag.
In conclusion cameras.co.uk writes:“I must admit that the C-480 has its limitations. Weighed against that is the fact that it relatively cheap for a four megapixel camera. Like just about every one of its competitors in this price bracket this camera struggles indoors, but produces decent shots if you are out and about, taking pictures in good light. Like many other cheaper models it also suffers from a sizeable shutter lag and you could find yourself missing that all important picture. “

Cnet.com reviews the Olympus Camedia D-545 Zoom and writes: “If you’re one of those consumers who are amazed that anyone would spend $300, $500, or more for a digital camera, but you still want to take good photos, the Olympus D-545 Zoom is aimed at you. With its 4-megapixel sensor, 3X zoom lens, numerous preprogrammed shooting modes, and compact design, it offers a lot for the money.”
Cnet.com likes the Olympus Camedia D-545 Zoom preprogrammed shooting modes, its pocket-friendly shape, and its low price. However, they think that limited manual adjustments, lack of sharpness in some photos, defaults to medium-compression setting when powered on are the downside from the camera.
In conclusion, Cnet.com writes: “The camera’s image quality was mixed. Our test shots showed good color accuracy and saturation levels, as well as a broad dynamic range for shots from an entry-level camera, with ample detail in shadows and highlights. Focus accuracy, however, was uneven. As a result, some of our photos were softer than expected. In the end, you get what you pay for. If you’re interested in snapshots from an inexpensive, knockabout camera, the Olympus D-545 Zoom may fit your needs. But if you plan to make 8×10 or larger prints, consider spending an additional $50 to $100 for a more capable model. ”
