I purchased my mum's Nikon Coolpix L100 - paid more than I should've I have since found out (but hey, it's my mum!!). She had it for a year or so, and I've had it nearly a year. I loved it... until a month ago when lines started appearing on the screen, and then I realised the lines were actually appearing on the pictures I took. The problem comes and goes. Took it to a repair shop today, and was told it is the camera sensor. Repair cost - more than the cost of a new one. I am very disappointed. I won't be buying another Nikon Coolpix.
I have manual and semi automatic cameras which have lasted longer than this (20-30 years)!

Dunno... I just did a 14 day trip by road to the North and I took (including many videos) about 1030 photos... I only recharged ONCE the entire trip and this is a PROMISE.

I get very good battery backup and I hope its not because the cam is new (or the batteries...)

Im VERY happy with the camera especially the HD videos I get.

Maybe its not a top end thing but for me it more than does the job!

I LOVE THIS CAMERA!

I use alkaline batteries and can go all day for about 2 days before rechanging the batteries. The batteries are not as big of a problem as everyone says they are.

It is true, the outdoor pictures are much nicer than the indoor pictures. As I focus more on nature photography, it doesn't really bother me. When I'm inside, I try to use all natural light, in rooms with lots of windows. If you turn on artificial light it tends to get blurry and there will be tiny white specks. I always use flash.

This is not the best camera for night photography. Though it's flash is quite strong, you will tend to get colored specks and slight grain issues in your evening pictures.

And yes, you can be in perfect focus and all the sudden it will blur out. Try to hold your camera still, wait 3-7 seconds, it goes back to your focus. You kinda have to be pacient with this camera.

I left my ISO the way it came, I don't have problems with it at ALL.

The image clarity is UNBELIEVABLE! Every once in a while it will look like the objects in your photos are outlined, but it is barely noticeable.

I love the variety of modes. Normally I leave mine on easy auto mode, as it goes to the best suitable mode automatically. The black and white is very clear as well. I also looooove the smile feature, it makes the faces so clear and defined, never any red eye. Video, however is not dependable. This is NOT a good camera to take video.

Overall, I would rate this camera 8 out of 10. It is nice quality for the price. I have gotten BEAUTIFUL pictures with my L100. It comes with me absolutely EVERYWHERE.

Read your guide, it helps.

For a camera of this price, it is decent. I wish it had more manual modes such as the ability to change the focal length, shutter speed and ISO. This camera is very easy to use even for people that have never touched a camera in their lives. I know a lot of people don't bother but, READ THE WHOLE MANUAL. It tells you a lot of information about camera so you don't always have to be in auto mode and you get better photos. This camera has satisfied my expectations, but did not exceed them. If you buy this, I highly recommend that you buy a battery charger as well.

Regular non-chargable alkaline batteries mabye will only last you an hour and a half or two hours if you have it on the whole time while taking some pictures.

The one thing that I don't like about this camera is that it does horribly indoors when light is very scarce; however, when taking pictures outside in the dark, there is not as much noise as there is inside. The ones outside actually come out pretty clear but the ones inside have a lot of noise.

The camera is comforable to hold. It is not too heavy, has a big screen, easy botton controls, and it is easy to transfer images to you computer. When you take photos, don't expect them to come out like SLR cameras simply because the outside may have the appearance of one. Usually the pictures always have noise (but not too much, not too noticable) like in the background. I REALLY like the fact that you can get really close to an object and focus on it and the picture will come out detailed rather than blurry. The the 10x optical zoom is awesome. I find it very handy and do not know what I would do without it.

Overall, I was pleased with this camera. It is a good starter camera, I suppose, for begining photographers because the quality of the pictures come out nice (on a scale of 1-10 of how clear they come out, I would rete it an 8). It is also easy enough to use for everyday household or event use. Would I recommend this to a friend? Mabye. I like it but I'm not in love with it. It will do for now.

LOL - I did the same thing. I had the Nikon, returned it and got the Fujiflim S1500. Thing is - my Canon Powershot 720A is STILL better - and it is 3+ years old.

We both had the exact same idea, but this Nikon? It's a dog. Buyer beware.
