Nikon D7100 Reviews
Techradar reviews the Nikon D7100 and writes;
“Those who like to dabble in sports photography will also not be disappointed, provided you are happy to time your shots carefully and don’t press the shutter release too early. The autofocus system is extremely capable and it gets the subject sharp even in quite low light. Thanks to the 1.3x crop, photographers can also get a little closer to their subject in-camera. Image colours are typically Nikon-like, with the Standard Picture Control setting producing pleasantly vibrant images in most situations.”

Photographyblog reviews the Nikon D7100 and writes;
“There’s virtually no noise from the base sensitivity of ISO 100 all the way up to 3200, with the higher settings of 6400, 12,800 and even to a lesser extent 25,600 all perfectly usable for smaller prints – very impressive for a 1.5x sensor. Exposure, colour and white balance were all uniformly reliable, with the option of the RAW format if you want to take control.”

CNET reviews the Nikon D7100 and writes;
“Increased sharpness is the goal with the viewfinder and LCD as well. The optical aspects of the viewfinder are effectively the same, but the readout now uses an OLED display for higher-contrast text. The LCD’s not articulated, but larger and much higher-resolution.”

T3 reviews the Nikon D7100 and writes;
“In terms of that extra promised detail, with the 18-105mm test lens attached we were able to achieve a pleasing degree of sharpness into the corners of the frame…”

Ephotozine reviews the Nikon D7100 and writes;
“The Nikon D7100 is an impressive update to the D7000, providing a higher resolution 24 megapixel APS-C sensor, but not only that, it also provides the ability to take the sharpest possible images thanks to the lack of optical low pass filter (OLPF). Although for optimum performance and for best results care should be paid to the quality of lenses used. The Nikon D7100 is introduced at a competitive price point, and it certainly makes this camera highly recommended.”

Digitalcameraworld reviews the Nikon D7100 and writes;
“The D7000 is capable of producing superb images with lots of detail and natural colour. It’s worth keeping an eye on the image histogram view though as the Matrix Metering doesn’t always do what you expect.”

Cameralabs reviews the Nikon D7100 and writes;
“Like its predecessor, the D7100 will shoot 1080p video, but rather than being limited to just 24p, the new model also offers 25p and 30p options. The 1.3x crop mode is also supported for video, although the recording format changes from progressive to interlaced with the choice of 50i or 60i. The maximum recording time in normal quality is 29:59 or 20 minutes i high quality.”

Photoreview reviews the Nikon D7100 and writes;
“The EXPEED 3 image processing engine supports a wide ISO range of 100-6400 (expandable to Hi-2 of 25,600), with noise reduction available for both still images and when recording HD video. “

The new DX standard
“As a still image camera (in the DX format) the D7100 has really set a new standard. Even though I’d buy a D400 if it came out tomorrow, there’s nothing stopping me from enjoying the D7100 today as the best you can get. I feel that the price is low for what it is and can create. Highly recommended…” – By P. Hartung

Perfect Upgrade from D5100
“The 51-point AF on this camera has been a dream to use. I almost always keep the camera set to single point servo autofocus so I can select the point I want it to focus to. As long as you have some contrast, it is very quick and accurate to focus.” – By Alan Montgomery

A worthy upgrade for the skilled photographer
“Using this as a flash commander in conjunction with my SB-600 is AWESOME. I could do that with the D90 as well, but it seems to work much more consistently and rapidly than it did before. The on-board flash seems ridiculously competent.” – By Michael C. Jackson

Finally– Worth Upgrading For!
“The low-light performance alone is incredible for those of us who like to use available light; maybe high-iso images are grainier than they’d be with a D600, but I’d prefer to have the 51-point AF system from the D4 than worry about a little high-iso noise that actually looks fairly filmic.” – By Matthew Pearson

Best DX Camera Yet – SHARP SHARP SHARP
“The D7000 is an outstanding camera, but the D7100 offers improvements across the board. Better weather-sealed body, better ergonomics, more megapixels, better color, more AF points, no AA filter, a new 1.3X crop mode, a headphone jack. And did I mention that it is SHARP SHARP SHARP? The D7100 is the best DX camera to date.” – By C.S. Michael

Sweet. New D7100 images are terrific–camera too!
“Just returned from a trip to Arches National Park. D7100 performed terrifically. Using the 1.3x crop factor, I can get an effective 600 mm from my Nikkor 28-300 mm zoom FX lens. Pictures were sharp,” – By drdvde

D7000 to D7100
“I would reckon the low light performance is better by around a half stop in absolute terms. But the grain is finer and smoother, so where I would stop at 3200 if possible on the D7000, I am going to 6400 on the D7100 without feeling too dirty. Family pics, not pro stuff. Things deteriorate pretty rapidly after that.” – By W. Choe

A Tremendous machine
“The build quality is solid, the AF is very, very fast and accurate with Nikon, Sigma and Tamron lenses. The metering is accurate with a large dynamic range in the exposure, and the resolution is wonderful. I’ve adjusted the sharpening up 2 spots, from factory ’3′ to ’5′, and have found already sharp resolution increased, without artifacts!” – By W. J. Keane

D7100 vs. D600
“The D7100 has some other nice advantages, like better focal coverage and higher flash sync speed, so it is difficult to decide which is the better camera. Sometimes the DX crop factor is useful (like for zooms), but other times the FX is useful (for wides, or if you don’t want lenses like the great 85mm 1.8G to be to close).” – By A. Rubin

It’s a whole new beast!
“The new features are many, but the ones I like the best include the display of the virtual horizon thru the viewfinder, auto focus in live view mode, the 1.3X crop function and the ability to shoot 6-fps! The fast frame rate is only possible when using an extreme SDHC card. The D7100 has 2 SDHC card slots, so you can record RAW on the first card and JPEG on the second. OR, you can create backup copies (as you shoot) on the second card. Nice!” – By blackhawkjohn

Camera Heaven (minor quibbles)
“I thought I got really good pictures from the D90. The pictures from the D7100 are GREAT. The technology of removing the filter from the sensor not only makes the picture incredibly sharp, I have not had any issues with the moire all the reviews warn about as a possibility. In short the D7100 is a whole new world of photography.” – By nefarr

Excellent Camera
“I’ve had the D7100 for about a week now, and I have been very pleased with the images. Sharpness is excellent when using the Nikon 16-85 and the Micro 40mm F 2.8. I owned 2 D7000′s, sold them and bought a D600 and this D7100. It’s a nice DX/FX set-up that suits my shooting style. I highly recommend this D7100, especially when paired with the 16-85 zoom.” – By Kenneth J. Delage
