Nikon D4S is one of the latest professional digital SLR camera that brings a wide range of improvements to better level than the model D4 and provide reliable performance, high image quality, high speed, accurate focus, and more ergonomic. D4S equipped with a 16.2-MP sensor and EXPEED 4 image processor which is able to produce images and videos with detail, quality, and high sensitivity . Additionally, this camera also has the ability to record Full HD 1080p video at 60fps and shoot up to 200 shots with up to 11fps in continuous shooting mode. Other features include ISO 100-25600 is expandable up to ISO 409600, 51-point autofocus system, 91K-pixel RGB sensor, capable of shooting 14-Bit RAW Files and 12-Bit RAW S Format, and 1000 Base-T Gigabit Wired LAN Support. Features & Design

Nikon claims that this time they have launched a professional camera by introducing the latest model that look identical to the D4. The camera is D4S which bring more improvement from the previous model to meet the needs of D4 users.

Physically, D4S looks similar to the previous model with the function keys are personalized and proper layout. His body is built like a tank made of full metal and comes with a protective weather (weather-sealed). If observed, D4S changes the grip and the layout of buttons to give more comfortable experience when used in the palm of the hand. At the top of the camera, exactly on the right side there are some functions such as shutter release button, mode, video recorder, aperture, and a screen to show the status of the ISO, aperture, battery, and more.

Overall, all of the buttons on the D4S have been designed with little layout change for easy use even when the user is wearing gloves. Although the change is not too obtrusive, but sufficient to facilitate the operation of the camera.

Nikon D4s has a 3.2-inch screen that offers a resolution of 921k-dot to allow users to see the results of photo and video as well as display the menu camera. As for storage of photos and videos, this camera supports CompactFlash and XQD card that has a high speed. For connectivity, D4S has been equipped with a 1000 Base-T Gigabit Wired LAN that provides very fast performance to transfer photos and videos to speed up the production process. Additionally, this camera is also compatible with the WT-5A and WT-4A Wireless Transmitters that lets you transfer photos directly from the camera without wires.

The camera using 1x EN-EL18a Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Pack, that give power up to 2500mAh. This power claimed by Nikon can be capture up to 5,960 shots/charge according to their method of calculation, but the average rate the CIPA battery can last up to 3,020 shots/charge.

Performance & Image Quality

Nikon D4s using a full-frame, FX-format 16.2MP CMOS sensor and combined with EXPEED 4 image processor as the latest processor which has performance 30% faster than EXPEED 3. The combination of these two technologies enable improved ISO range of 25,600 to 409,600 which strongly supports the camera to shoot in the darkest situations. The autofocus speed is also improved to better levels of up to 11-frames per second with continuous AF and auto exposure.

Featuring an Autofocus system that uses a Multi-CAM 3500FX 51-Point AF Sensor, Nikon D4S has excellent autofocus capabilities. The system coupled with 3D Tracking feature which is able to recognize the background of the subject, especially on a subject that is moving quickly to get accurate focus. Even to get a very good focus, you can use the 5 AF sensors into a single focus point.

Speaking of image quality, the Nikon D4S is bale to produce impressive high-quality images even in dark situations. To produce excellent images, this camera is supported by 3D Color Matrix Metering III system that utilizes the 91,000-pixel RGB sensor to evaluate and analyze the background object while helping fast and accurate Autofocus and exposure metering. The combination of sensor and image processor also improves picture with brighter colors, natural, and smooth on any photos or videos that you capture. You can capture sharp images on the range of ISO100 up to ISO25600.

In addition to producing high-quality images, Nikon D4S also supports you to record Full HD 1080p Video Recording at 60 fps in H.264 / MPEG-4 AVC. There is also a 2.7x Crop mode that is able to extend the range of the lens to record great video. To provide excellent sound quality into video, D4S utilize the features Wide Range and Voice Range to adjust the sound quality and reduce annoying wind noise.

During video recording, you can also shoot a still image of 2MP simultaneously. Even you can record video and store it directly on an external recorder via the HDMI port. You can store files on the memory card as two duplicate or backup if needed.

Should I buy the camera?

Nikon D4S is a superb camera with a range of improvement is better than the previous model despite the D4 is also still one amazing camera. D4S will be the newest flagship camera that offers fast image processing, superb image quality, faster autofocus, high shutter speed and ergonomics. It is a high advances that make it the strongest professional DLSR camera today.
