Nikon 1 Nikkor 18.5mm f/1.8 User Reviews

the best lens yet
“in bright light or even in a room with an overhead light it locks on pretty fast I had a couple images to upload to give an example of the bokeh achieved with this lens…is it the best…probably not but it does damn well…buy this . You won’t regret it…great for portraits and isolating subjects” – By Kenneth J. Hudak

Great low light pictures and good bokeh
“When taking a picture of my kids using auto scene selector mode inside the house under the same overhead lighting conditions and the same shutter speed (1/50), I went from ISO3200 with the 10mm pancake lens (f/2.8) to ISO800 with this lens (f/1.8). This makes for a much sharper picture, especially when you want to crop and enlarge certain parts of the photo! The background blurring is also very cool and really makes your subject pop out of the photo.” – By Jakedos

THE must have lens for snapshots on this camera
“The 18.5mm is equivalent to a 50mm on a 35mm camera and is a well loved focal range by many, especially for street photography. It just feels right, not to far away, but not too close. This range is about the same as your own vision, so it frames most “snapshot” situations great and focuses quickly. You have a lot of flexibility in both aperture and shutter speed in average inside light conditions.” – By Billy M. Brackeen

In addition, the lens also combine the speed and depth of field control with an enhanced close focusing capability (just 8.4-inch) allowing you to create beautiful macro photography. This ability bring you closer into a flower blossom for a stunning macro-style shot, especially when you set the aperture to f/1.8 that bring the flower petals into crystal-clear focus while the surroundings fade into a soft, beautifully blurred texture.
