Nikon 1 J2 Reviews

Pocket-lint reviews the Nikon 1 J2 and writes;
“As it is the J2’s images are decent at the lower ISO settings, with enough detail from ISO 100-400, though this can be scene-dependent. For example, a deep green shade in the background of an ISO 400 shot shows a level of luminance noise that the camera has partially processed out – it doesn’t look bad by any means, but it’s certainly there.”
Rating: ★★★½☆

Amateurphotographer reviews the Nikon 1 J2 and writes;
“The first generation of cameras will always need some degree of tweaking before they really deliver what the user wants. While the J2 is a nice camera and offers some improvements over the J1, it doesn’t feel like it has gone far enough to progress the Nikon 1 series.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

Videomaker reviews the Nikon 1 J2 and writes;
“The Nikon 1 J2 boasts powerful photo features from creative filters to face recognition, and is an excellent transition for any beginning photographer who wants a simple and easy route to capturing video in addition to their photos.”
rating: N/A

T3 reviews the Nikon 1 J2 and writes;
“Images – whether stills or video – are clear and crisp and colours realistic in the main, and we were able to get really quite decent results merely by pointing and shooting, even in lower light – which is where the modest resolution yet larger sensor does it stuff – so anyone will be able to pick up the J2 straight away and come back with pleasing shots.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

Techradar reviews the Nikon 1 J2 and writes;
“For those looking for their first compact system camera, the Nikon 1 is a good investment, while those who already own DSLRs may like to consider it for a second camera.”
Rating: ★★★½☆

CNET reviews the Nikon 1 J2 and writes;
“In producing the J2, Nikon has rounded out the already impressive features of the tempting J1. It’s a joy to use and a beautiful camera that produces impressive results. It’s something you’d be proud to show off.”
Rating: ★★★½☆

Photographyblog reviews the Nikon 1 J2 and writes;
“the Nikon 1 J2 is a good camera for beginners, it’s not so well-suited to serious amateurs. The J2 is a very small, high-quality, discreet and generally fast camera but its interface is quite clearly not geared toward users who like to take full control of the picture-taking process, despite the addition of the new Creative shooting mode.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

Expertreviews reviews the Nikon 1 J2 and writes;
“The J2 fared well in our image quality tests, too, with flattering colours and well-judged automatic exposures. It’s good to see that the Auto ISO mode no longer limits itself to ISO 800 as it did on the J1, reducing the chances of camera shake in low light.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

Ephotozine reviews the Nikon 1 J2 and writes;
“The price of the J2 is quite reasonable, putting it in the middle of the mirrorless price range, yet the 60fps shooting is a unique feature that is worth paying for. The Nikon 1 J2 delivers one of the more compact mirrorless camera systems available, thanks to the compact kits lenses available being very compact thanks to the pancake design and collapsible zooms.”
Rating: ★★★★½

The J2 is a great camera, the design has always drawn my attention to it.

I’m a 16 year-old photography beginner, and I just got the new J2 for Christmas. I have been testing it in all sorts of situations for the past two days.
It seems to be dealing extremely well with everything I’m trying to shoot, except for one key thing; motion.
I’m an avid horse enthusiast, and I chose the J2 in the hopes of getting some nice shots of horses in motion, but when I brought it out to the fields while some of the horses were having a gallop, I found that I wasn’t sure how to get non-blurred photos of them.
I had it on a high ISO with continuous shooting, but every shot came out blurred.
I would really, really appreciate it if someone who know the J2 could give me some advice on what settings and aperture I should be using for fast-moving photos.
