Metz 45CL-4 Expert Reviews

WDC reviews the Metz 45CL-4 and writes;
“The quality of light from the Metz Mecablitz 45 CL-4 is certainly very good – deep and crisp and even, as King Wenceslas might say. The light outputs at 5600° Kelvin, and colours are bright and clear, without a blue/cyan cast that can occur with some cheaper flash units. In daylight the automatic fill-in produces images with subject illumination and ambient light in perfect harmony.”

Features & Specifications

Metz 45CL-4 Features & Specifications

The Metz 45-CL4 Digital Flash is a heavy-duty handle mount flash that supports even the advanced TTL systems used with Digital SLR cameras: E-TTL II flash mode from Canon, i-TTL/i-TTL-BL and D-TTL from Nikon or ADI flash control from Sony/Minolta.

The 45 series is the smallest amongst Metz handle-mount flashes that provide TTL capability. In conjunction with the SCA-3045 connection cable and a dedicated SCA 3002 system module, this flash will fully support all advanced functions of the camera and/or flash (where supported by the camera).

This kit is the “basic” version, with just a AA battery holder and simple PC cord included. These are enough for the photographer who likes to keep things simple, and who likes to shoot in manual mode.

Lots of features are packed into a compact flash for its class, such as an auxiliary fill-flash light, bounce and swivel capacity, wide-angle diffuser and more.

Note! Requires camera-dedicated module and SCA-3045 connection cable

• TTL compatible with most digital and film SLR cameras

• Manual flash mode with 5 partial lighting levels

• Secondary flash (with 3 lighting levels) helps to fill-in shadows in close-up areas that are created when using an indirect flash

This flash has been with me since 1990. I own two of them and I would not give them back!
http://www.flickr.com/photos/mawas/3309822162/ is an example of two flashes working together shot through translucent white umbrellas!
