Manfrotto 190XPROB User Reviews

Great for amateur
“Being an amateur I needed a trip pod that is lightweight and versitale. This tripod fits the bill perfectly. Well made, and tight. I use it in conjuction with a Manfrotto 484Rc2. It provides a great base for my digitial SLR or my HDV. Leg locks work great and are easy to use. I highly recomend this for anyone that needs a stable base that is very versital. “ – By Perez

Great tripod, reasonable price – highly recommended
“Clever touches abound. The head itself has great tension adjustability and the bubble level is handy and accurate. I like the clever way they implemented the horizontal orientation changeover on the tripod. It’s quick and easy, with single-button actuation. I have now taken to leaving the rapid connect plate on my camera full time. “ – By Earl E. A. Dopter

Standing ovation
“I’ve had a few tripods in the past and so far the Manfrotto 190XPROB 3 Section Aluminum Pro Tripod offered the best combination of weight, stability, flexibility and price. It’s relatively light weight (there is a carbon fiber version if you need something lighter), flexible, very stable and quick to adjust.” – By R. Philibert

Great Tripod For The Money
“I have to say it exceeds my expectations. It is a solid, professional looking and high quality tripod for the money. It is not as light as a Carbon Fiber version but I did not want to spend $400 or more on a tripod. I attached a Manfrotto 488RC2 ball head to this tripod which gives me a solid support for my Nikon D90. The capability to set the center column to horizontal allows me additional angles to include getting close to the ground and doing Macro shots. Overall, I love this tripod and highly recommend it to others. “ – By F. Mortezaee

Manfrotto 190XPRO
“Excellent tripod, quick easy set up and break down. This is my first higher end tripod and I am impressed with the quality and attention to detail Manfrotto has given this product. I would highly recommend to pro and novice alike.” – By Lawrence Quedenfeld

Amazing tripod
“This tripod is amazing and you can position it the way you like. Good for macro and indoor photography. I have a wide angle lens and I wanted to shoot my living room and the best spot was to almost attach the camera to a wall where you cannot look throught the view finder. With this tripod you can make it by using the extended bar that can be repositioned to an L-like position. My only gripe about this tripod is that it is relatively heavy. It doesn’t come with a head, so you would still need to buy one and that would add more weight. “ – By Mohammed Alrashed

Great Tripod
“This tripod is a great balance of quality, stability, weight and cost. It is a little heavier than the carbon fiber tripods, but its also cheaper. I had a cheap $30 Sunpak tripod before this one and the 190XPROB doesnt really weigh all that much more. The big selling point for me was the horizontal column, its great for doing macro shots on a table where you want to get the camera really close to your subject without having the legs get in the way. This tripod feels really solid and well-built im confident that im going to be lugging this thing around for at least five years and not have to worry about replacing it.” – By Travis Manley

Easy to use advanced tripod
“Awesome tripod! As an amateur, I needed one that could go from a bluegrass festival to the woods to a wedding to home for an Ebay item shoot. This does it all in a very stable manner. Highly recommended… “ – By Scott D. Schnelle

Solid Construction Quality and Lightweight
“I was looking at a tripod that could be easily carried along with a backpack on day long hike, this tripod is lightweight but still has a lot of stability built into its construction. It easily holds upto 11 pounds of equipment. i bought it along with the Manfrotto 322RC2 Horizontal Grip Action Ball Head and RC2 Rapid Connect Plate, which makes for a very nice combination, Using the Grip its very easy to position your camera and lens in pretty much any desirable angle, its easy and fast. the lock mechanism on the plates are very good.” – By A. Manfrotto 190XPROB Expert Reviews

Cameralabs reviews the Manfrotto 190XPROB and writes;
“it’s hard not to be impressed with what you’re getting for the money. It may be the cheapest model of the four tested here, but still delivers a significant step-up from budget tripods. It’s relatively compact but extends to a height most would find acceptable, while handling sufficient load for the vast majority of photographers. Angle the legs out as far as they’ll go with the centre column horizontal and it’ll also crouch just a few inches above the ground.”

Features & Specifications

Manfrotto 190XPROB Features & Specifications

The Manfrotto 190XPROB three-section tripod is ultra stable, flexible, and easy to use, making it a great choice for professional photographers everywhere. The tripod is distinguished by its Manfrotto-patented horizontal center column, which has been completely redesigned to create a more user-friendly feel. By extending the column to its highest vertical position, users can now swing the tripod round to horizontal without removing the head or disassembling the column itself. This makes switching between framing and positioning setups more convenient than ever. In addition, Manfrotto improved the ergonomics of the leg angle release mechanism and the quick-action leg locks, making it a breeze to open, position, and close the tripod in just a few seconds. The tension of the locking mechanism is even user-adjustable, so you can find the right tension for your comfort level.

The tripod’s unique design allows the photographer to use the center column horizontally as an extending arm or vertically (both right-way-up and upside-down). When used horizontally, the center column can be turned 360 degrees around the tripod, making it useful for macro work, low-angle shooting, extreme balance points, and off-center work. This also makes the tripod a helpful accessory for chair-bound photographers, who can sit beside the tripod instead of behind it, putting them much closer to the camera viewfinder.

Should you need to balance the tripod on an uneven surface, you can set each of the legs to a different spread angle over the tripod’s center of gravity–a must for nature shots on outdoor terrain. This also allows you to adjust the tripod to several different heights, with four preset independent leg angles and a spring-loaded step mechanism for extra stability.
