Light Weight but Strong
“When travelling and hiking, the last thing you want to suffer about is the weight and the dimention of the staff you are halling. This tripod is light weight(3.7 lbs) and it’s only 21.5 inches long when folded. It’s strong, sturdy and beautifully designed. I simply love this tripod.” – By Carl The Snail
“Build quality is amazing and it is remarkably light. When you lock it down during use, it is so solid. The rotation of the center column offers great flexibility when I am doing macro work. As an added bonus, it just is a great looking piece of gear.” – By RocketVerified Buyer
Lightweight and Sturdy
“This is my first major purchase of any tripod. I wanted something that would be lightweight since I do a lot of traveling and didn’t want to regret the weight decision later on. The tripod is lightweight and very strong. It’s easy to set up and tear down. I am using it with the Manfrotto 498RC2 ballhead. It’s a fantastic combination for my D90 and lenses.” – By archerian
Great medium duty tripod
“I’ve taken several thousand images with this tripod, a Manfrotto gimbal, my dslr and lenses up to 400mm f/5.6. It’s compact, light weight and sturdy for its weight and price class.” – By dcstep
Rock solid support for taller folks
“Though not as light as it’s shorter counterpart, the 190CXPRO, this tripod is an ideal choice for anyone over 6 feet tall. I was also initially undecided on whether to go with a tripod with flip or twist locking mechanisms, but after using this tripod a few times, I was sold on the flip locks (sets up really fast). The center column easily switches for low angle stuff, and faceting keeps it really stable. Couldn’t be happier with my choice to pick this up…” – By thatguy
Meet my expectations
“Lightweight, easy to set up, flexible, in particular with the dual mounting on the center rod. Packs small due to 4 legs, fits nicely on my Kata 3-in-1 backpack. Nikon D300 w/ 70-200 VR lens is no problem, tripod is stable and no shaking or vibrations noted, even during windy conditions. I also use it for sports, capturing all excitements of my 7 year old son playing soccer. Highly recommended.” – By Jayhawk
an excellent choice
“The fit and finish of these tripods is excellent throughout. With all four leg sections fully extended, and the column fully seated, this tripod, with head and camera mounted, ends up at a perfect standing height for me. Mine ends up with the eye piece about 65″ off of the ground. I’m 5′ 10” tall so this puts the eye piece right were I like it to be; comfortable standing height. Also, at this height, the tripod is very stable. “ – By JQ
Superbly solid tripod
“Pretty much as advertised. Very light, adjusts smoothly (in my case, at least). I got the optional spike/rubber pad feed, which clamp on the leg. I cannot believe how solid such a light weight tripod can be; lives up to billing.” – By mlnorth
Lightweight, stable and flexible
“Great light solid tripod. Good secure leg clamps Relatively quick to set up. Folds up to a very small size. Easy to carry. Center post can be oriented at right angle to the tripod – provides extra flexibility – good for getting in close to flowers for macro shots” – By HJ
Light & Tough
“I have two primary uses for this tripod; one is wildlife photography using a CANON 100-400mm and the other is for low-light/HDR photography using a wide angle lens. I have found it ideal for both purposes. The best thing about it is that it is both light and tough; it is VERY easy to carry, yet it will handle up to nearly 18 pounds and it is extremely stable.” – By DMF
This is a great tripod
“I had a three section tripod it was great but I needed better height adjustment. The 055CXPRO4 gets the job done. It is only a couple of inches taller than my travel tripod, when fully collapsed. Which make it breeze to travel with.” – By preacherman
After Teetering Over The Price, I bought It – I love it
“This tripod along with the 322RC2 Ball Head is a superb combination! Sturdy yet light weight. Great for long field hikes as well as studio work. The legs can be positioned at four different angles with flat-out to the ground for low level shooting. (The Q90 Center Column lays horizontal with the legs in this position) The Q90 Center Column quickly switches from vertical to horizontal with the click of a button. Steadiness in the horizontal position is not compromised at all. The first thing I tried was shooting several different exposures of the same scene for HDR prints. With the 055CXPRO4’s steadiness, each exposure lined up precisely and provided a crystal clear image for HDR processing. “ – By J. Lowe

Manfrotto 055CXPRO4 Expert Reviews
Dentonimages reviews the Manfrotto 055CXPRO4 and writes;
” it will quite happily support the Nikon 200-400mm zoom on a Sidekick with a gripped D300, even though that combination is pretty much at the 15lb weight limit, and still remain steady. Yes, a 55 series Gitzo would hold that same combination even steadier, but the setup show below has produced some amazingly sharp results, especially given the price point for this tripod….”
