Lowepro Vertex 300 AW Expert Reviews

Squidoo reviews the Lowepro Vertex 300 AW and writes;
“I think it’s fair to say that anyone who buys a camera bag of this size is wanting to carry a lot of photographic equipment. The Lowepro Vertex 300 AW certainly makes this very easy. The two exterior pockets mean that you can quickly access certain items quickly, such as CF cards and leads, but where it suffers, like all backpacks of this type, is the hassle of getting your gear out quickly and easily without laying the whole bag down and unzipping the whole lid….”

Lowepro Vertex 300 Experience
“I just returned form two weeks in Alaska and found the Lowepro Vertex 300 was what I expected from Lowepro. I found that it easily stored in the overhead bin and was easy to carry in the field. I carried a Nikon D100 and F100 both with the extended battery packs, a 170-500mm Sigma Telephoto, two additional lenses, an Epson P-3000, DX-80 Flash, various Cokin filters, extra batteries, chargers, flashlight, 20 rolls of film, manuals, tools, canned air and a Gitzo 2530 with no problem. So, as you can see I had just about everything but the kitchen sink! The ability to carry this by it’s top strap made it easy to get around. The build quality is very good also. I will purchase Lowepro again! “ – By William Tellam

Lowepro Vertex 300 AW
“I bought this backpack since I was sure that a Nikon 200-400mm VR F4 mounted on a camera would fit in this bag with other equipment. When I originally wrote a review I was still waiting for the 200-400mm lens. I now have the 200-400mm VR lens. It is huge, but fits perfectly in the Vertex 300 AW. I also have carried a Nikon 17-55mm F2.8 lens, Kenko 1.4 teleconverter, Nikon 12-24mm F4 and many accessories. The Nikon 200-400mm lens comes with a pretty extravagant case that holds only the lens. I really needed a backpack that would accommodate the lens mounted on my Nikon D200 camera and an additional camera with lens mounted and accessories. “ – By David Hutchinson

Big bag
“I needed a bag that could haul some serious equipment around, and this is certainly it. This bag will hold pretty much whatever you want it to hold gear wise, and the ability to slip my huge 17″ laptop in with my gear to download pictures off my camera on long trips is awesome. “ – By James T. LowePro Rocks
“A couple other photographers in Europe were using various Lowepro Vertex packs and I soon bought the Vertex 300 AW to upgrade and replace my Tamrac. I dont know why I didn’t get a Lowepro to begin with as I knew their reputation and my own experiences with their packs. It is simply a great backpack and fits 2 DSLRs, 100-400mm, 70-200mm, 100mm macro, 24-70mm, 17-40mm, 10-22mm, 580EX & 430EX flash, Macro ring light and all my CF cards, batteries, card readers, & my 15.4 inch laptop (although it will fit a 17″). The straps are easy to control and snugs up tight & comfortable making this heavy load easy to carry. It is harder to pick this loaded backpack off the floor than it is to carry it on your back.” – By Carlton Ward

Lowepro outdid themselves
“This bag is incredibly roomy… especially since it fits within the carry-on guidelines! The harness is super-adjustable, and should make carrying any load a breeze — I have similar systems on other packs, and as long as you do it all up, the load completely disappears… even 60-70 pounds of it! This pack is incredibly versatile… there is a slip-lock attachment anywhere you could want one, and a very well-engineered “GlideLock” system on three points.” – By Kristoffor Benson

Lowe Pro Vertex 300 a great pack
“I have used this pack for about a month. It will easily hold two Canon 40D type cameras with the lenses. I also have an extra telephoto. It has great organized storage for flash cards, filters, etc. It seems to be water proof especially with the extra rain cover. There is also a cover for the backpack straps. A nice way to carry expensive camera gear.” – By RS “rogers1313″

works great for me
“I recently went on a 3-week cross country RV-styled trip and took this bag along to handle photography equipment and my 17″ macbook pro (uni-body style). It worked well for me. the laptop fits just fine, and if you’re needing to shove something else in with the machine (a book for instance) it can accomodate that, though i get nervous of the screen taking more impact than it normally would.” – By Cody Bennett

Great backpack
“So far, it’s great. Haven’t traveled much with it to test its durability or comfort on a long hike. Holds my Nikon camera, 300m zoom lens, some smaller lenses, Benro C-069m8 tripod, 17″ MacBook Pro and lots of misc camera & computer gear. All of it inside! I could strap the tripod to the outside and get more room inside. Would like the non-removable backpack straps to fold a bit more compactly. Sparse instructions, so you have to figure out the intended purpose for some straps & pockets.” – By P. Guerrini

pricey
“lov the bag hate the price. think they could be a little less greedy. great quality, lots of room for gear but the price kills me. i had a bag of great quality and plenty of room for less than half the price. the only reason i bought this bag was because of the extra belt strap. if i could have found some thing with that strap i would have bought in a heartbeat. don’t get me wrong i have a few thousand dollar worth of equipment in that bag so the insurance of knowing it is protected make me feel a lot better but come on guys 250.00? you can get 1st class luggage for that price “ – By Anthony Guido

Excellent bag for carrying major photo equipment
“I am heading to China for a year and needed a bag to carry a substantial amount of my photo equipment
on the plane and the Lowepro Vertex 300 AW Backpack does the job nicely. One is able to move the velcro
dividers and adjust the interior of the bag to meet ones storage needs. Also, there are added compartments for miscellaneous items adding to it’s versatility. This bag is definitely for someone who needs to travel with a lot of equipment for an assignment or for an extended photo trip. If you need a bag for walking around with two or three lenses and a DSLR /SLR then honestly this might just be too much bag.”
