Lowepro Fastpack 100 Expert Reviews

CNET reviews the Lowepro Fastpack 100 and writes;
“I have to admit, though, I’m not really fond of Lowepro’s divider system (based on years of experience with an otherwise great backpack, the Micro Trekker.) The dividers are well padded, but I find the flap-based attachments difficult to align properly, the placement of the loop patches (of the hook-and-loop fasteners) too limiting, and the fasteners themselves a bit too tenaciously tight. They stay where you put them, but configuring and reconfiguring the system always feels like a fight. However, many users are fine with the design, so don’t take my word for it. In general, it’s always a good idea to try to configure any bag before you buy.”

Allengeorge reviews the Lowepro Fastpack 100 and writes;
“The Fastpack 100 targets those using a minimal kit – something like the D80 or D70, with a mounted consumer-level standard zoom or prime, and a small second lens – with (almost unheard of for camera bags) room for non-camera stuff. It’s compact, unpretentious, easy on your back and shoulders, and (despite a few flaws) good to work with.”

Lowepro Fastpack 100 User Reviews

Very comfortable
“The bag is perfect for day trips with minimal gear. There is room for one camera with a lens and an additional lens or flash in the bottom compartment and room for a few items you may need through the day in the top section. The side pocket is large enough for a pint or so of water or a little snack if you like. A few small pockets throughout the bag provide space for memory cards, batteries, lens cleaning kits, or whatever. Filled to the brim this bag still doesn’t weigh enough to slow down my 11 year old daughter.” – By F. glick

Great, Compact & Snug Fit Backpack
“I bought this for my new SLR Camera Nikon D5000. My camera fits perfectly with the attached lens Nikon 18-55mm VR DX. You can even fit another lens in the generously padded compartment. Other than that, I also managed to fit in an additional SD Card, SD Card reader, 2 battery packs, battery charger, 2 cables, cleaning accessories, a bottled water on the side pocket and a lunch pack on top of the small compartment. Everything just fit snugly and compact, which I prefer. Definitely a must to have! “ – By K. Teng

Lowepro Fastpack 100
“This is a good size pack for the beginner to intermediate level photographer. The build and design quality is excellent, the adjustable compartments are a nice feature to allow for your items to have a custom fit. The largest compartment is just barely big enough to fit my telephoto lense. I use mine for both day and weekend trips and like it a lot.” – By K.H.

Great Little Walk-Around Bag
“All in all, this is a great walk-around camera bag that can easily store a camera with attached kit lens, with additional room for two primes or a medium-sized telephoto, and countless smaller accessories. If you only carry two or three lens with you, and already have a larger bag for organizing all your gear, then this is the bag to go with. “ – By Charles Moore

Compact & Rugged
“I found the larger Fastpack too huge/bulky (and hated the integrated waist belt, which is non-removable!) so I returned it and ordered the 100 instead. The high sticker price aside, much better — it’s small & light yet rugged, fits my Pentax SLR plus an extra lens (with some room still to spare), and the upper compartment is perfect for a wallet and whatever extras.” – By Petrik

initial response: great
“I bought this because I wanted a pack that was small enough to house just what I usually shoot with and a few extra pieces, but I didn’t want a fanny pack or traditional camera bag. In this way, it works perfectly. the shoulder straps are functional and the grab handle at the top is convenient – particularly since the load tends to be on the bottom and the base of the pack is also semi-rigid and flattened so that it will stand freely.” – By Professor Velo

Works Great
“Bought this for a trip to Disneyland. Worked wonderfully. I thought I would bring my “big” camera only one day to the park and the rest of the time just bring my compact so I wouldn’t have to lug a camera case around. with this pack on my back, it was no biggie. Took the camera everywhere and was glad I had it to catch all the great photos. Very easy to get into. SO glad I bought it! “ – By Debi

great pack
“This pack works perfectly for my Canon Rebel T1i Canon EOS Rebel T1i 15.1 MP CMOS Digital SLR Camera with 3-Inch LCD and EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens, with the kit lens & the 55-250 zoom. I was pleasantly surprised how much room was in the upper compartment, I can easily hold all my around-town daily needs (wallet, extra gloves, snacks, keys, etc..) plus some other misc items in there. The lower camera compartment is very well padded in and the pack is quite comfy to carry. It might be a bit uncomfortable for someone larger (I am 5’6″), but I love it. “ – By A. Brase

Superb pack
“I really cannot think of a thing about the Fastpack 100 that has been disappointing. It’s actually what it’s described like. Only, it took me a couple of times to get used to unleashing the right-shoulder strap, and keep the left one on, so as to be able to take out my camera without taking the bag off (I normally hold backpacks on my right shoulder). “ – By Ale Levi

“I took it on a trip to Mexico, have taken it on local day hikes, and even on a local camera shoot. I love how compact it is, and its VERY comfortable for long periods of time. The way it has the side opening to get to the camera is also very comfortable and convenient, once you do it a couple times. There isnt enough weight to warrant a waist strap, which it doesnt have. “ – By think good

Fantastic travel backpack for packing light
“2 compartment design is wonderful for travel. No longer do you have to open your entire bag to retrieve things like a wallet, keys, phone, etc. This was a big issue for me as I didn’t want my camera being flashed every time I pulled my wallet out to purchase something. The bottom compartment easily holds my 7D with 17-40 (hood reversed) attached and a 50mm f/1.2 in the spare compartment (hood reversed). The top compartment is big enough to carry an unlined rain jacket, small wallet, keys, phone, memory cards, and nearly any other personal items you want! The top compartment is very spacious.” – By E. Martin
