value and performance combined
“The print quality is not as good as that of a printer designed for high definition output (like some [higher priced]HP models out there), but for just over [money]you couldn’t ask for more. It scans and copies with one push of a button on the printer itself, or via the program that comes with it. The only drawback to this item is apparent when you attempt to print envelopes- they only print a certain way, generally in a basic fasion. Other than that, it’s hard to find any other flaws in a value such as this. “ – by John Fain

Exceeded all expectations
“The install was absolutely no problem whatsoever! I haven’t had one crash or error in the few print/scan tests I’ve done. The scan quality is way better than expected (once you change the DPI from the factory default of 150 DPI(?)). Both BW and Color printing came out with quality that’s totally sufficient for a casual user. I would enthusiastically recommend this printer to a friend. It’s a great deal, even at the price it’s selling for on Amazon.com. “ – by A Customer

Does a lot for less than 100 bucks
“I always buy Lexmark printers. This is a good one too. It prints, scans, and faxes for a decent price! I find it easy to use also. The speed of the printer isn’t the quickest, but what’s the rush? 🙂 Older printer models don’t offer the use of two ink cartridges..one black and one color. This one does. That helps to save on a lot of ink! It also comes with one color and one black cartridge. It is compatible with Windows98, Me, 2000, or XP. It also uses an USB cable to connect..not parallel (like the older models).” – by Anita

Lexmark x73 a strange beast
“It works well on Win98 SE. Plain text printing is acceptable quality when you consider the low price. Printing colour photos on gloss paper produced a slightly more grainy output than I am used to. Scanning is quite good quality. Photocopying is a very useful service. The printer is a bit noisy in use, but that may be considered nit-picking.” – by M. Christy

Features & Specifications

Lexmark X73 Features

The Lexmark X73 boasts photo-quality printing, color scanning, and full-color and black-and-white copying–all in one convenient unit. Plus, Lexmark includes Black Ice Impact ColorFax Lite software, so you can send PC-based faxes, too.

The X73 prints with up to 2,400 x 1,200 dpi resolution in both black and color on all paper types. For faster, higher-volume needs, you can choose 600 x 600 dpi normal mode or 600 x 300 dpi quick-print mode. The rated speed in the lower resolution is up to 9 pages per minute (ppm) in black and 5 ppm in color.

Make up to 99 copies at 9 ppm in black and 3 ppm in color. Reduce or enlarge from 25 percent to 400 percent in 1 percent increments. The 48-bit flatbed scanner easily scans to fax and to e-mail. Thanks to the unit’s hinged lid, you can place bulky objects on the scanning bed, which is ideal for copying books and magazines. For faxing, the X73 combines its scanning functions with the transmitting and receiving functions of your PC’s modem, all under the control of specialized software (included).

The X73 comes with a USB cable, black and color print cartridges, an instruction book, and the driver and software CD. Software includes ABBYY FineReader 4.0 OCR for text editing, Black Ice Impact ColorFax Lite for faxing, and MGI PhotoSuite 8.1 for managing photos. Lexmark backs the unit with a 30-day satisfaction guarantee, one year of LexExpress service, and optional extended warranties in one-year increments, for a total of up to five years of coverage.
