The Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM is a high-performance zoom lens whose maximum aperture can be used at all focal lengths. It includes the normal 50mm focal length and a minimum focusing distance of 50 cm - close enough to shoot subjects as small as a CD-ROM or an entry-level EOS camera body. The large aspherical element used on the front helps obtain a high image quality comparable to single focal length lenses.
This lens is also my personal favourite. I use it more often than I do with my EF 16-35mm f/2.8L USM and the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM zoom lenses. In fact, it is the lens that I carry with me most of the time since it offers the most suitable range of focal lengths for a photojournalist.
The Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM has Improved Autofocus speed over it’s predecessor with 2 Aspherical elements for high image quality through the zoom range and 1 UD element to effectively correct chromatic aberration at wide angle. It’s also has
Highly effective dust and moisture protection with Class leading minimum focus distance of only 38cm and Non-rotating front element during focus
