Kodak ESP-5 Reviews
Photoreview reviews the Kodak ESP-5 and writes;
“Printing photos through a computer was slightly faster. It took seven minutes and 26 seconds to produce a batch of eight snapshot-sized prints, which averages just under 56 seconds per print. Both times were significantly slower than the 30-second time claimed by Kodak for this printer. Borderless A4 prints took two minutes and 32 seconds to produce, on average.”
PCWorld reviews the Kodak ESP-5 and writes;
“The ESP 5′s scan quality is quite surprising. Our test scans showed an even better balance of colours than HP’s top-end , with even contrast and colours across the image. For photo scanning, the ESP 5 is one of the best multifunctions we’ve seen, with good reproduction of images for reprinting and digital use.”
Trustedreviews reviews the Kodak ESP-5 and writes;
“Print quality has been one of the Kodak printers’ strengths and this incarnation doesn’t break the pattern. Black text is light and reasonably crisp, though with slight feathering into the paper nap, and colours are well differentiated, though again a bit pallid. A colour photocopy of our colour text and graphics print was closer to the original than from the ESP 3, though the original wasn’t that strongly coloured in the first place.”
PCAdvisor reviews the Kodak ESP-5 and writes;
“We love the design, features and photo print quality of the Kodak ESP 5. It’s not the best for everyday colour printing, but is ideal for mono text and making the most of favourite snaps.”
Digitalcamerareview reviews the Kodak ESP-5 and writes;
“While I can appreciate the ESP 5’s low operation costs, the costs associated with trying to do everything – print, scan, and copy – within a single device may make the Kodak a poorer deal than it first appears for photo enthusiasts: for not much more than the ESP 5’s $170 price tag, you can get a really superb stand-alone inkjet. A printer-only device with the ESP 5’s image quality can be had for much less. Combine this with scanner performance that can be finicky and doesn’t deliver the kind of super-high-quality results photo enthusiasts demand and unless you have a pressing need to do lots of scanning, the ESP 5 may not make a lot of sense.”
CNET reviews the Kodak ESP-5 and writes;
“Color text under the “normal” setting still leaves a bit to be desired and we can still see visible banding in darker shading, but the transition from color to color is visibly cleaner with more distinct line formation. We recommend specifying “best” as the default print quality; you’ll notice a significant difference between “normal” and “best.”"
Kodak ESP-5 User Reviews
Wonderful Printer! Kodak got it right with the ESP-5
“The Kodak ESP-5 prints great looking full frame 4×6 and 5×7 lab quality prints. The sheet feeder is both reliable and accurate. I print a lot of labels and reproducible alignment is important. The ESP-5 does a wonderful job in terms of reproducibility and color quality. The blank paper feed on my Lexmark is unreliable at BEST! The Kodak has been 100% in terms of mechanical reliability. Color rendition is basically “WYSIWYG” when compared to a calibrated monitor. The scanner works reliably and produces great resolution scans with accurate tonal quality.” – by F. Herrmann
“Printer works well, scanner is Ok also. Some problems with communication with computer. My one complaint is not being able to leave fresh paper in the paper tray of the machine. When I shut it down I also return the tray to the closed position, paper has to be removed to do that, this was not a practice I had to do with HP. Not a big complaint. Photo printing is exellent, I have also found though,that the ink cartrages are not as inexpencive as clamed in commercials.” – by J. B. Snyder
Good Printer – Copier with a minor disadvantage
“I bought this unit to replace two separate Hewlett – Packard Printer and Scanner units for home use. As advertised, the ink cost is considerably less than for other makes. The printer produces up to 8 1/2 X 11 prints with good sharpness and good color balance, and I have tested a detailed print by leaving it exposed to full sunlight for two weeks. The print has not faded.” – by Richard Coen
Nice little photo printer, no major complaints
“I found the ESP 5 to be an excellent photo printer that works consistantly and provides very good to excellent output for photos and excellent output quality (considering its an inkjet) for other media, such as documents from MSWord and Adobe… The printing has never been skewed, or slanted, in any way, either for photos or documents. I have purchased some generic high-gloss photo paper from target, the 8.5×11 size for large blowups, and they have printed flawlessly using the recommended settings on the package.” – by Aquitaine
Kodak Kept Its Promises
“The installation was a breeze. We had to move it to another PC in a short time, and that was just as smooth and easy. This is being used at our church for a variety of projects. During VBS we took photos of close to a hundred children one morning, had them printed and back to the craft room in time to complete their project the next morning and take their parents a personalized gift. The orignal cost was well within reason, but the ink cost was so low that we thought quality could be a problem — not in the least. Use Kodak paper and the result is what we expected. Scanner works just as well, too. All around good as an all in one printer. Kodak has a winner here.” – by David Blickensderfer
Love the Kodak ESP 5 Printer
“I love this new Kodak ESP 5 printer. The ink lasts longer, it is affordable, and if we ever need help with it, the Kodak support folks are always so helpful. If you buy an ink cartridge and it does not work they will replace it for free no questions asked!!! I also really like how I can trigger it to clean the heads on the printer through my computer without pressing buttons in code. I am very happy with this printer.” – by Laura Moir
