DCRP’s Jeff Keller has recently posted a review of HP Photosmart R927, an 8-megapixels point-and-shoot digital camera equipped with 3x optical zoom and 3 inch LCD screen.

“Pros: Compact, stylish metal body, Enormous 3 inch LCD display; good low light visibility, Very good performance in most areas, Full manual controls, AF-assist lamp; good low light focusing, Adaptive Lighting feature brightens up dark areas of your photos (though noise levels go up even more), Tons of useful features: effective in-camera redeye removal, panorama stitching, image undelete, Image Advice, and more, Nice movie mode; zoom can be used during filming (though the sound will be picked up), Very easy to use; elaborate in-camera help system, Photosmart Express feature lets you easily “tag” photos for sharing

Cons: Above average noise and purple fringing, ISO setting was ignored in shutter priority mode, LCD blackout during continuous shooting, Manual focus feature could be better, movie mode frame rate below average, No optical viewfinder, Battery charging and photo transfer to a PC requires dock; no USB 2.0 High Speed support; video output requires purchase of $80 dock, Flimsy door over memory card/battery compartment; battery didn’t like to stay in its slot, Shared photos not directly e-mailed to recipient, Full manual on CD-ROM”
