HP OfficeJet Pro K550 Reviews

Macworld reviews the HP OfficeJet Pro K550 and writes;
“The printer is very fast, speedier than any of our recently tested inkjets in two of three tests–and placing second in the third test. The printer’s speed does not sacrifice print quality. Although its text could have been sharper, it printed impressive color photos on glossy paper and did well on our plain paper graphics test, delivering smooth gradients and unbroken curved lines.”

PCMag reviews the HP OfficeJet Pro K550 and writes;
“Overall output quality was better than that of most ink jets, particularly for text and graphics. All but two of our test fonts were easily readable at 4 points. One highly stylized font needed 8 points, another 12. Ultimately, the K550 should be able to handle any text you’re likely to print. Graphics quality is as good as that from any ink jet we’ve seen to date. The only problem worth mentioning was banding, but that showed only in default mode. If you limit yourself to the high-quality mode, graphics are marginally good enough for a graphic artist, and certainly good enough for any business use.”

Learn how to use it
“Drivers loaded first time no problem. I was printing in less than ten minutes out of the box. I’ve got a year and a half old computer with XP Pro. Printer is a little larger than most non “all in one” machines. Ink usage so far is not quite what HP claims but very good. ( note, check the settings, docs in 300dpi are still very good, at higher settings excellent,and compare to laser quality.) Prints very fast, good clear docs. It can print a decent picture, but that’s not what this unit was built for. I use it for contracts and other docs. Have had NO problem cancelling print jobs. If you glance at the manual, and don’t have too many other problems already with your computer this is a document printing monster, and I’ve been very happy with it for a month now. I’ve got about 700 pages thru it with ZERO problems. “ – by B in Phoenix

“The perfect printer for small business needs. So far no problems and ink goes through kinda fast, but not as much as the old epson. Prints color graphs economically and with good quality. If you experience problems with it and using word then I suggest a better program such as Openoffice. Works well with linux.” – by A. Frary

Excellent printer with few problems
“After having an HP printer many years ago with no problems, I decided to get rid of my Canon printer (POS) and buy this one (although quite large for home use!),it works wonderfully in comparison. Occasionally it will feed out two pages instead of one, not often enough to worry, but the print quality is awesome. My daughter’s print out color pics from the computer and they look great! Worth every penny.” – by Shawn Kane

Great color netowrk printer for around home or small office
“This is a very nice printer. Setup takes no time. I do not know the longevity on ink usage yet. But I only plan to use to print color when I have to, so the ink usage will be minimal. I need all the computers in the house to print to it, so I bought the HP Jetdirect 175X print server for it to print via network. it work great once you download the file from HP web site for the printer server. Load the HP printer wazard will help the process. I have not print enough to see the two pages pickup or jamming yet. I will update those if I found later. Hope this help people deciding on this printer. “ – by David Chow

Speedy, dependable and crisp
“What a wonderful gem of a printer hp has created with K550. I have a photosmart 7350 and when my SECOND multifunction device I bought from Epson (including the replacement on the second CX3200 machine), I decided I was happy with the hp experience. The photosmart was a little on the slow side and that’s why I was looking into speed and crisp quality prints. I’m staying away from the All-In-Ones until the industry gets it right (sort of like those phones that play music too, eh?) I could not be any more pleased than I already am with the Officejet K550. It’s truly a much needed dream come true!” – by Prentice B. Bryant

Fast Printer for a good price
“This printer is super fast with color and black text (with great ink life thus far), I have not printed any photos from it as it was purchased to make invitations at work. I did however have to spend 45min with tech support to figure out why when printing color text there was a shadowing effect under the letters. If you buy this printer, be sure to update the firmware version immediately to save you the trouble. Sine I downloaded the update, it’s been printing everything perfect.” – by Melissa Mcmanus
