HP Officejet Pro 8500A Reviews

Printercomparison reviews the HP Officejet Pro 8500A and writes;
“the Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless does many things well and it is very easy to use. I think it could be an excellent addition to a home office but if you want laser quality prints, laser quality speed, AND the laser cartridge cost per print, you may want to buy an actual laser printer.”
rating: N/A

MACworld reviews the HP Officejet Pro 8500A and writes;
“Speed and print quality shine on the Officejet Pro 8500a Plus. Crisp-looking plain-text pages sprinted out of the machine at 9.3 pages per minute via the Mac and 10.6 ppm via Windows. Snapshot-size photos took about 4 ppm on letter-size plain paper and a little under 2 ppm on HP’s own letter-size photo paper. A 22MB, high-resolution photo took nearly 3 minutes to print from either the Mac or the PC.”
Rating: ★★★½☆

Computershopper reviews the HP Officejet Pro 8500A and writes;
“The OfficeJet Pro 8500 is a no-nonsense, all-business device that will give excellent service to small-office and home-office workgroups. The initial purchase price is high, but low operating costs could make the 8500 ultimately cheaper than the competition.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

PCMag reviews the HP Officejet Pro 8500A and writes;
“As should be obvious from reading this, the HP Officejet Pro 8500 Wireless All-in-One is an impressive printer. Its speed is a match for some slower lasers; its output quality is adequate for text and impressive for graphics and photos; it has almost any AIO feature you could want; and it’s cheap to run. It is, in short, a runaway winner and easy pick for Editors’ Choice.”
Rating: ★★★★☆

CNET reviews the HP Officejet Pro 8500A and writes;
“We also couldn’t be more pleased with the output quality of the photos and documents. It’s true that most offices won’t put as much importance on the quality of prints as the speed, but it’s good to know that no matter what the settings say, the device will still give you pinpoint color accuracy. Our test photos exhibit evenly saturated colors and thorough shading that few other printers can achieve. Our litmus test for all printers is how the ink lays on plain 20-pound paper, and the Pro 8500 easily passed this test, showing an impressive range of dynamic detail.”

Trustedreviews reviews the HP Officejet Pro 8500A and writes;
“Print quality is fair, though we noticed some toner spatter around characters, particularly in bold text, which give a slightly smeared appearance. Colour graphics come out very well, being bright, solid and totally lacking in any dot patterns. Photos are also very good for a business printer relying on four-colour print. They are better than anything you’ll see out of a colour laser. “

User Opinions

HP Officejet Pro 8500A User Reviews

Phenomenal Printer
“This is a great printer. However you view it, it not only meets, it surpasses expectations. Many people would be content with an all-in-one (AIO) that prints, copies, scans, and faxes with minimal setup and maintenance. Wireless network printing would be a nice bonus. Color printing would also be a nice bonus. Low cost per page would be another nice bonus. “ – by Bass Cadet

HP does their best but a few flaws in this business-class AIO
“All of that being said, at its best, using quality stock and best print settings, jobs from this printer rival offset press quality. It is relatively fast, though duplexed jobs require a one-minute pause to allow side 1 to dry, which really slows up this kind of work. The scanner and copier functions work very well, though I did get one input tray jam early on. The best results will come, of course, from wrinkle-free originals with no holes. I will keep working with this printer to see if updated firmware results in better behavior; I do already value it for its outstanding print quality.” – by M. J. Mccaffrey

Major step up in technology
“This 8500 is a major step up in ease of set up and other features. Scanning of special items is very cool, you can select a save format, desitnation and then preview before the final scan. I have done some photos in a rather large resolution and the older model took forever to scan and save, the 8500 is a piece of cake. You will not be disapointed in this machine if you need a multi function device. Does not do a bad job of photos either although it is not listed as a photo printer. “ – by Ed the Sewing Man

Wow
“Anyway, we got it up and printing and all registered with the HP powers-that-be. We remotely printed with no problem and the on-site printing came out beautifully. I haven’t scanned yet, but it looks pretty easy. It also has a fax – not yet used – and a copier, which produced excellent copies. All-in-all, a good piece of equipment. “ – by Jill Meyer

The best printer so far in my history of using printers
“I have already started printing large volume of invoices with no problem. I tested printing on low grade paper and the text still near laser quality, but the print quality do become much better with better quality paper. Print speed and quality are the best compared to all inkjet printers I have used. “ – by JasonLim

Excellent Mac software
“I got this two days ago and have been using it more or less continually since. The Mac software (which you have to download from the website — don’t use the CD) is excellent and allows you to scan etc. over wifi. It also works with an Airprint on an iPad. The software seems to do everything imaginable. Scanning is good — one scan came out with a brownish background that should have been black, but I fixed that using the contrast control in the HP scan software on the Mac. “ – by George Hart

HP Officejet Pro 8500A Premium Wireless
“The print quality is excellent… same as I’ve always come to expect from HP. Networking to my laptops and desktops has been flawless. To cut the noise which to me is only a minor nuisance… it might be a good idea to put it on something that looks like an oversized mouse pad. Overall, I’m well satisfied with it… my hubby is going to be printing stuff onto the iron ons for his T-Shirt collection… ahahaha… at our age, doesn’t take much to entertain us… I would highly reccommend this printer to all… it’s very fast for home use or personal use in an office setting. “ – by Gladiola

HP Officejet Pro
“Awesome printer! Very satisfied with this printer. Printer has a big touch screen panel. It prints, copies, faxes, prints double sided, scans and its very good on the ink. I definitely recommend this printer and very easy to use. “ – by Gustavo Samuel Zambrano

After reading earlier reviews
“Output is very fast – scanning is moderately fast (but can’t compare with my Fujitsu ScanSnap). Printing is very good. Fax is very good. 2 sided printing works well – although I have little need for this feature. So far I have not observed any negatives with this product. I am very pleased.” – by Paul E. Guy
