HP Deskjet 5940 Reviews

PCWorld reviews the HP Deskjet 5940 and writes;
“We were especially impressed by the color accuracy and shadow detail of color photos printed on plain paper. On glossy paper, however, we noticed some narrow horizontal banding. (The prints improved significantly when we bumped the quality controls in the driver above the Fast Normal settings that HP recommended for our testing, although printing then took longer.) Our grayscale image escaped the banding problem, showing good tonal changes and plenty of sharp detail.”

PCAdvisor reviews the HP Deskjet 5940 and writes;
“It offers excellent print quality on both text and graphics, fast speeds, great looks and a wonderfully thought-out software interface. With PictBridge included, it even has features for digital camera users.”

Macworld reviews the HP Deskjet 5940 and writes;
“The Deskjet 5940 is a good all-around performer, with excellent text-printing capabilities and very good photo quality. Though it was poky on one of our speed tests, this printer is a good fit if you’re looking for an affordable, general-purpose color ink-jet.”

Gadgetspeak reviews the HP Deskjet 5940 and writes;
“This is very nice fast printer in text mode and it also produces rather images in a very reasonable time. So if you require a printer to print both text and images this could well suit the bill.”

Excellend Printer
“I purchased this printer from Costco Wholesale. They have a liberal return policy and I wanted to make sure I got a good printer. And I got a store rebate to boot. I noticed right away that the printer was really quiet. I could not hear it print while the tv was on. I found the print quality was excellent. I printed test page using an entry from the thefreedictionary.com. There was no skipped lines in the color areas. Letters were finely printed. I printed a picture to standard paper and the printer did not print any lines in the graphic.” – by N. Holloman

Best Printer I’ve seen
“I’m Jonny and my brother wrote a review on my printer. I am in 6th grade and do all my homework, projects, and everything else on my computer and the HP DeskJet 5940 is the best way to suit what I need. With speed, reliability, and quality it is the best on the market for it’s price. The HP DeskJet 5440 (I think) is very good also but just does not have the speed, external low ink indicators and the same pages per cartridge as the 5940 does. Both are exellent printers.” – by A Kid’s Review

HP Deskjet 5940xi
“The software installation was a bit of a pain, the installer froze a few times (on a Sony Vaio 3.5 ghz), but I was able to get it installed on the 3rd try. I would’ve preferred if you could unselect all of the other bundled imaging software and just install the drivers, but that wasn’t an option so I went with the absolute minimum. Print quality was good, speed was not quite as fast as the box claims, but still quick. Overall I’m happy with this printer.” – by Susan

Has worked for me for quite awhile
“The DeskJet 5940 has been sitting in my home office next to my computer for several years now. It has never needed repair and it gets decent “mileage” from the cartridges. That is, my experience has been that the black and white as well as color cartridges generate quite a few copies before I need to replace them. “ – by Steven A. Peterson
