Gitzo GT5541LS Expert Reviews

Dentonimages reviews the Gitzo GT5541LS and writes;
“Simply put, this is the best tripod I’ve ever used. At 60″ tall, by the time you’ve added a head and camera, it will easily work for anyone around 6′ or even slightly taller (Gitzo also make a shorter 3-section leg version, the GT5531S that is only 52.4″ tall, which is too short for many people). The stability it provides is impressive, making it ideal for use with heavier setups involving longer telephoto lenses.”

Richardpeters reviews the Gitzo GT5541LS and writes;
“It’s quick operation and solidity when you set it down really are very impressive. I’ve used mine in driving wind and rain on slippery seaweed covered rocks and never once felt anything other than total confidence in it’s ability to help keep my gear stable enough to get the shot – especially when paired up with a head like the Wimberley MKII. It’s not the cheapest tripod out there but when you need to support big, heavy and expensive equipment you don’t want to cut corners! As the saying goes…you get what you pay for!”

User Opinions

Gitzo GT5541LS User Reviews

Extremely stable
“This is one of the biggest photo tripods that Gitzo makes. Its extremely stable, well built and feels like it will last a life time. As a result it is rather heavy. I’d say that unless you are shooting with either a 600mm f/4 or 800 f/5.6 lens, you probably don’t need this tripod and the Gitzo “3-series” will probably suffice. However for ultimate stability this is the one to get. I’ve photographed birds with a 600 f/4 lens in moderate to heavy winds with this tripod and had rock solid stability and very sharp images. “ – By Aravind Krishnaswamy

Features & Specifications

Gitzo GT5541LS Features & Specifications

The Gitzo GT5541LS Systematic 6X Carbon Fiber Tripod Legs is a tripod that uses advanced “Carbon 6X” carbon fiber material for its leg construction. This improved tubing is stronger, lighter and as resistant to torsion as its 12-layer predecessor.

Versatility
Systematic tripods have a unique ultra wide top platform that guarantees an incredibly stable base for any professional high performance equipment. This platform can be removed and replaced with other accessories, making this a fully customizable system.

Ground Level System
The tripod’s legs can be spread nearly parallel to the ground and locked into position. This allows you to shoot from extremely low angles.

G-Lock Design
The G-Lock mechanism has been completely redesigned in order to achieve a 20% increase in rigidity, faster operation and stronger, safer locking. G-Lock’s special design also provides a “gravity lock” effect. Therefore, the higher the load applied vertically to the leg, the stronger the lock.

1mm Gitzo 6X Carbon Fiber Tube
Gitzo was able to develop a six-crossed multilayer carbon fiber 30% lighter than the previous 1.5mm generation that features the same exceptional performance of stability and vibration absorption and unbeatable quality.

Performance Design
Performance design allows the legs to be set individually at 24°, 55° and 90° to cover every angle you want to shoot.
