A Quality Monopod with Capacity
“A quality product from Gitzo, taking the weight of the Canon 400 f2.8, RRS Monopod head and occasionally me as well with no problems what so ever, only the bag it comes with is quite inadequate and can hardly be called a bag. I use the Really Right Stuff monopod head to keep the mass of the lens centered over the monopod and with quick release it allows you to change lenses quickly and find the sweet spot of balance with your camera using the lens plate.” – By imagism

Top-notch monopod for holding big glass
“Pairs up perfectly with a Really Right Stuff MH-01 High Capacity Monopod Head and B2-Pro clamp with B61 lens plate for supporting my Canon 300/f2.8-IS in tight-quarters shooting situations. Make no mistake about it, this Gitzo monopod is substantial in girth…easy to get a a good grip on it while wearing gloves. Very solid, no flex, good dampening characteristics, sections slide like on glass, tightening screws work perfectly; yet, it’s lightweight.” – By Felix

Great Product, Rock Solid support
“I needed a solid support for my 300 f2.8 and DSLR. I was using an aluminum monopod and bought this one because it was much lighter. I have found it not only lighter but rock solid. I can lean on this monopod with my full weight and there is no flex or movement in any of the sections.” – By WTG

“This Gitzo monopod is perfect for using long glass on sports coverage or in the wild for animals & birds. I ordered this specific model of the Gitzo because I’m rather tall and at 6′,4″ I need the camera viewfinder to come up to my eye height. This unit does the trick. It’s the perfect height when fully extended. Even so, it’s still very light and only a little longer than Gitzo’s compact traveler model when fully closed. It’s so strong I think I could even trust it to hold a Hi-DEF broadcast camera!” – By number1DP

Great Purchase
“This is my first monopod purchase. Having read many recommendations about “getting it right the first time,” (not buying cheap – being disappointed then spending again for a new one), I am very happy I purchased this model. With the glass I have now (70 – 200 / 2.8), it is probably a little overkill but it is solid, easy to use and extremely light. I also know that if I add 300, 500, etc. to my collection, I do not have to upgrade. Works wonderfully with the RRS monopod head.” – By Barthalomew

Quality, Stabilization = Superb
“I did quite a bit of looking before deciding on the GM5541 and I can tell you that nothing was even in the same ball park. Like others, I added a RRS MH-01 Hi-Capacity monopod head with the B2-ProII clamp. At this point I am mostly using the Nikkor 300mm 2.8 AF-S VRII with the 500mm f/4 to come in the near future, but I have used a friends 800mm (I think it is about 11 lbs) and the GM5541 handles the weight without any problems, it is solid as a rock with no flex what so ever! I am convinced that for the Super Telephotos, this monopod and head are the best money can buy, there is no equal!!” – By slowride

Gitzo Carbon Fiber Monopod
“Excellent product, enjoyed using it at the 2009 Sony Open in Honolulu, Hawaii. It works well with the Canon 600mm lens. Rated at 55 lbs. I recieved alot of looks and comments as I follwed the pro golfers around the course. Extended out it was easy to carry and balance the camera & lens on my shoulder. I was asked if I was a professional and I replied a professional amateur!” – By R. Sauder

Gitzo GM5541 Features & Specifications

The Gitzo GM5541 6X Carbon Fiber Monopod is Series 5 4-section monopod that weighs less than two lbs, but can still support cameras up to 55 lbs. This monopod also incorporates Gitzo’s revolutionary 6X technology tube, which reduces the overall monopod’s weight up to 25% without sacrificing strength or stability.

The G-Lock mechanism has been completely redesigned in order to achieve a 20% increase in rigidity, faster operation and stronger, safer locking. G-Lock’s special design also provides a “gravity lock” effect: the higher the load applied vertically to the leg, the stronger the lock.

1mm Gitzo 6X Carbon Fiber Tube
Gitzo was able to develop a six-crossed multilayer carbon fiber 30% lighter than the previous 1.5mm generation that features the same exceptional performance of stability and vibration absorption and unbeatable quality.

Anti-Rotation Leg (ALR) System
The Anti-Rotation Leg (ALR) system makes it quick and easy to open and close the monopod. Simply turn all of the locking rings at once and the whole leg can be pulled out in seconds.

Wrist Strap with Belt Clip
Connected to the top plate is a wrist strap, with a handy wide belt clip incorporated. This makes it possible to hang the monopod directly from a belt, strap, or pocket.

Removable Leg Tip
The self-locking removable rubber leg tip is interchangeable with Gitzo universal accessories such as the big foot, long spike, etc.
