Giottos VGR9265-MC User Reviews
Compact and Sturdy
“The ball head is medium duty, but strong enough to handle a medium-sized zoom with a tripod collar. Without the collar, though, I think a camera such as a D300 w/an 80-200mm would be much too front heavy for this head. Monopod feature is a nice option. My main intention for getting this pod was to have a “mini Gitzo” for travel (w/o the big price) and I feel I made the right choice, given the options in the marketplace today.” – By Ken Snow
Great travel tripod, very sturdy
“The quick disconnect plate is very slim, round, and tightens into the head via one small screw. The design has room for improvement, but will not move once tight. The legs are extended via rotating the collars on the sections. They are a little stiff but I would rather them be stiff than sloppy. They do not loosen themselves. Overall this is a great tripod for me. I use it with 28-70, 80-200, and 16-35 with no problems at all.” – By Sebastian
“A great tripod! Very sturdy for its weight, smooth action all around, solidly built and folds up to a really small package. Ideal companion for hiking or with smaller SLR’s and digital. Has the feel of a Gitzo at a fraction of the price. Also great 2 in 1 design with it effortlessly converting into a monopod. Great Product.” – By Max
“The ball head is an MH 5400. It seems to have been custom made for this tripod. It’s skinnier than the other Giottos ball heads I’ve seen, and utilizes the small ball size. The design of the head allows the legs to fold into a compact space. This is important. If you’re thinking about adding a different ball head to support extra weight, it’s pretty much a given that it will prevent the legs from folding back all the way. You could go that route, but you would probalby want to disconnect the ball head with each transport to protect the ballhead knobs from unnecessary wear. Hooking up a Canon 50d with a 70-200mm lens, the ball held great even at extreme angles…” – By Ryan Montgomery
